Ecumenical Eats- Food, Fellowship & Fun: Labor Day 2020 edition

As part of the Ecumenical Zoom Worship service on Labor Day Weekend (September 6th @ 10am) we put together an Ecumenical Church Potluck Cookbook.

We had a strong representation from ChristChurch. Thank you!

Download a PDF of the cookbook here.

If you find typos or grammatical errors, please send them my way. I did my best to review all the recipes but there was a good amount to read through rather quickly.

Enjoy! Share! Eat!

Church items sale proceeds
to go towards PEER Initiative

As the church was moving out of the 5170 NE Five Oaks Drive building several items such as furniture, equipment, etc. were sold. After moving expenses were reconciled the amount remaining from sale items proceeds totaled $2,000.

Chris Radford (Transition Coordinator) and Jane Jackson (Finance Secretary and Transition assistant) requested that the funds from the sales go towards the Pandemic Emergency Economic Relief (PEER) Initiative. Read more about the PEER Initiative in the article below.

At the August 26, 2020 church council meeting a motion was made and passed unanimously to donate the proceeds ($2,000) from the sale items to the PEER initiative.

We thank Chris Radford and Jane Jackson for their creative and generous thinking. We look forward to more opportunities to continue connecting with the PEER Initiative and our local community.

Pandemic Emergency Economic Relief (PEER)
In the first Faith News of the month,
we will include an update on the PEER campaign. The campaign will continue as long as the need remains. If you want an update anytime during the month feel free to email Admin@comchristchurch.org.

We continue the PEER initiative in the midst of this pandemic, many families who were already marginalized and pressured are now facing acute economic and food insecurity.

How it works:

We are buying grocery gift cards and delivering them to counselors at Evergreen Middle School, who then get the grocery gift cards to families. The first round of gift cards has been purchased.

What can you do:

Help us double these funds by clicking on the PEER category in our online GIVE button so that we can purchase even more grocery gift cards to impact local families in need.

Thank you to everyone that donated and continues to donate!

To date:
$2,250 raised from congregation members and friends
$2,000 from the ELCA OR Synod and compassion funds
$2,000 from the church items sale proceeds
Total of $6,250!

total of $4,150!

Synod Online Event:
The Synod Day Learning will be an opportunity
for relational gathering for ALL.
The online Synod Assembly (November 6 & 7) will be very business heavy.

Donations are still being accepted in memory of
 Marjorie Ann Ehlen
Sept. 27, 1941 – Feb. 10, 2020

A memorial service was originally planned for Marjorie in April 2020, but the pandemic made an in-person gathering impossible. Instead, Eileen Gross and Chris Moore have organized a community service project in her honor to support people in need in our area. Project Homeless Connect Washington County  is a collaborative effort to help individuals and families get critical care, services, and information. It is part of a nationwide movement to increase access to services for the homeless and engage the community in finding a solution for homelessness.

In Kind clothing, shoes, blankets, first aid kits:  contact  Eileen Gross by September 15 for pick up.

Monetary donations:  please mark “in Memory of Marjorie Ehlen” on the form.
