HeBrews Update!

This fall the HeBrews coffee cart is going to be back up and running. The first Sunday the cart will be back in service will be announced soon.

To prepare for HeBrews to be back in action we are seeking donations for Hebrews coffee cart supplies. If you'd like to make a donation please leave cash or a check in the collection plate for ANY amount and mark it for Hebrews.

If you'd like to get involved with this effort email Admin@comchristchurch.org and Rachael will connect you with the current leaders.

Congregational Vitality Survey during

Worship this Sunday

The Oregon Synod is embarking on a Visitation Outreach project in preparation for a Year of Reformation and Renewal (May 2018 –May 2019).

We will be joining in this work with our fellow Lutheran brothers and sisters around the state as we discern our futures together. The first step in this process is the completion of assessment tools designed to give each congregation insight into their life, vitality, and sustainability.

You may recall two years ago when we first took the Congregational Vitality Survey. This survey was helpful in giving us a snapshot of how we were doing as a congregation and how we viewed ourselves with regard to spirituality and engagement. I am excited to announce that in the next few weeks we will be taking the Congregational Vitality Survey again. Taking the survey every couple of years or so is recommended as a way to measure changes in the life of a congregation.

This Sunday and September 3rd the congregation will be invited to complete the survey during worship. After August 27th it will be available to take online and copies will be available to be picked up from the church office.

Getting the best and most accurate information depends on having as many of you as possible fill this out, so please be on the lookout for when this survey is available and make sure you take part.

God’s peace,

Pastor David

Update on the Annual ChristChurch

Backpack Drive

Thank you to everyone that has already donated! Supplies are gratefully accepted through THIS SUNDAY, August 27th.

This ChristChurch service opportunity provides a way for our congregation to engage in serving locally. Backpacks and school supplies are needed for families with young children at the Family Promise Hillsboro shelter. We are collecting school supplies to assemble 10-12 backpacks for children in a shelter setting.

There are many ways to participate:

1) purchase one backpack and all the supplies needed to fill it

2) partner with another family to purchase all the supplies for a complete backpack

3) purchase any single items on the list and help fill backpacks after church on the last collection this Sunday, August 27th

4) volunteer to deliver backpacks to the Family Promise shelter during the week of August 28th

You’ll find the collection basket in the Commons. Thank you for considering joining in on this important service to our community neighbors!
