10:30am Sunday Worship
with Holy Communion
at Rood Bridge Park

Message from
Rev. Karen LaJoy Smith, All Saints Episcopal

Psalm 81:1-3, 10-16
New Testament Reading: Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16
Gospel: Luke 14:1, 7-14

*No regular Sunday worship at 9:30am @ ChristChurch!*

Logistics for the potluck picnic:

After the celebration of Holy Communion together, we will continue to break bread together with a potluck picnic. We have reserved all three pavilions and will provide grilled hotdogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers. Bring a drink and/or side dish to share. Please label your potluck dishes, and help us be "green" by bringing your own reusable tableware/utensils and water bottles. We will have a limited amount of disposables available.

Seating:

We encourage folks to bring a lawn/folding chair for service. Limited seating will be available in the pavilions for the potluck picnic.

Offering:

The offering taken during worship at the park will be a special offering to support Family Promise of Washington County. You may make your regular weekly offering online or bring it to church on Sunday, September 8th.

Parking:
To ensure enough parking for all, we encourage you to ride your bike, ride share, or walk if you can - and leave the closest parking spots for those with mobility issues. Watch for the Hillsboro United Methodist shuttle bus if you park in surrounding neighborhoods. The park is accessible and there are public restrooms nearby.

RSVP:
Lastly, you can help us plan for the number of grill foods we should purchase by RSVP’ing to the Facebook event if you plan to attend.

About the Parenting and Pregnant Women’s Program:

This program allows mothers to keep children birth to five with them during their treatment. Women can begin substance use treatment during their pregnancy, deliver their baby, and return to treatment without disruption. Children receive therapeutic childcare while mom is learning how to manage her disease of addiction and picking up parenting skills.

The Parenting and Pregnant Women’s Residential Treatment Facility is doing a special collection for diapers, wipes, nursing pads, and new & unopened breast pumps. ChristChurch is participating in this collection during September. Please leave donations in the Commons starting September 8th. Thank you!

We are featuring a frequently asked question about Reconciling in Christ each week in Faith News and the bulletin. Reconciling in Christ is a program for Lutheran congregations who want to publicly welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identity, and gender expression into their communities.

Q: What are the goals of ReconcilingWorks?

A: We believe that God values and embraces each person as a beloved child, that the Spirit gives a diversity of gifts for the common good, and that Jesus Christ calls us to work for justice. The ministries of ReconcilingWorks embody, inspire, and support the acceptance and full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, their families, friends and allies, within the Lutheran communion and its ecumenical and global partners. Through our Reconciling in Christ program, ministries, resources, events and alliances, ReconcilingWorks: builds community for worship, education and support; fosters welcome and acceptance in all Lutheran settings; advocates for the ecclesial changes necessary to ensure full participation in all rites, sacraments, and ministries of the church; and invites all people into Gospel lives of authenticity, integrity, and wholeness.

The next Reconciling in Christ team meeting and potluck is
Thursday, September 12th at 6 pm.
