Forgiveness

Gospel Reading for this Sunday:
Luke 7:36-50

The season of Lent starts on Wednesday, March 1st with Ash Wednesday. Worship that evening will include Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes.

The final session in our Love People of all Races Without Limits series will be this Sunday, February 19th. Will cover the last chapter of Jim Wallis’ book, America’s Original Sin, focusing on how together we can build a bridge to a new America.

After a brief one Sunday break from the Love Without Limits series we will begin a new series on Sunday, March 5th, the first Sunday in Lent, Loving All Our Neighbors Without Limits. During the 6 weeks of the Lenten season, we will be using a curriculum, provided by Family Promise, called Just Neighbors.

This resource will help us focus on the issue of poverty, learn how many of our neighbors are impacted by poverty and homelessness, and discover ways we as people of faith can address the issue and put our love for our neighbors into action. Annie Heart, Director of Family Promise of Washington County, will join us on March 5th to help us kick off this series. In addition to facilitating the first session, she will also bring the message in worship. I am thankful for Family Promise and the good work they do to improve the lives of families in our community. I am also thankful for Annie’s commitment to this work and her partnership in facilitating this discussion here at Community of ChristChurch.

The kickoff for the Back 40 Project last night was a huge success. We had over 30 people attend including folks from the congregation, Bright Start, community neighbors, artists and schools.

I’m very excited to see what happens moving forward with our garden, art, community gathering and environmental ideas.

Our next potluck will be Wednesday, March 22nd
from 6pm – 8pm at ChristChurch again.

If you couldn't make it to the potluck last night it's not too late to get involved! Let Pastor David or myself know that you want 'in' and are interested.

Between now and the next potluck our Design Team will create a draft design from all of the ideas generated last night and work with City Repair to fine tune the ideas. Then at our March potluck we will keep working on the design and start drilling down into more details.

Thank you for supporting this new form of community engagement as we expand our Without Walls vision.

Best,
Rachael Jans
