Annual Congregational Meeting Summary

Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 11th after worship.

We welcomed two new elected Church Council Members: Denise Demarre and Sarah Wilkinson. We said thank you to outgoing council members Sallie Bullock, Emma Jackson, Paul Jackson, Kelsey Hoggard and Kendall Wilmoth.

The proposed Annual Budget (copies still available in the office) and Council Slate were approved unanimously (34 - 0 votes).

Our Church Council Roster for the 2017-18 fiscal year will be:

President: Denise Demarre

Secretary: Jill Bierman

Treasurer: Rich Radford

Pastor David Eppelsheimer

Michael Gross

Sarah Wilkinson

Our Treasurer, Rich Radford, gave the financial report and the good news that we are once again in good financial standing. If you’d like to view the presentation, email Rachael at Admin@comchristchurch.org. The Finance Team finished their first year and are looking for new members to join. If you are interested talk to Rich Radford, Beth Habecker or Jane Jackson.

Our outgoing Council President, Sallie Bullock, shared her thanks for being part of the Council team for many years. Denise Demarre updated us on how the worship team is evolving and expanding. Jason Wilkinson shared how Movies that Matter came about and how it's been a success at widening our community circle. Jane Jackson spoke about the Back 40 and the new life giving ministry that will continue on for the long haul. Kris Hoggard spoke via a pre-recorded video about the frequent opportunities to get involved with Wings. She also gave a reminder of the mission of Wings: to build new friendships with other women in our church, strengthen the friendships we already have, and to serve God, each other, and our community. Rhonda Eppelsheimer recapped the generous Service and Mission work carried out this past year. A special shout out for our outstanding commitment to Baby Care Kits - thank you Shirley and Dick Dinger!

Thank you again to all who attended and presented. Council meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:30pm each month. They are open to all. Full minutes from the meeting will be available for review on Sunday.

This Sunday, June 18th is Father’s Day and… the Portland Pride Parade!

Now that you've checked out the paintings at church, here's more information about Christine.

About Christine Joy:

Christine Joy is a local artist in the Portland area and a recent graduate of George Fox University. She was a studio art major with a focus in painting.

Art has always been Christine's passion and a big part of her life. She has been painting ever since she could hold a paintbrush and is mostly self-taught. Creating images with her own hands of nature has been a very therapeutic part of her day to day life. Having struggled through health problems as an elementary student, she had learned how to express herself through her artwork and creativity. Christine says, "Now I simply cannot go a day without painting!" As a young artist, she is an active painter showing monthly, competing in various competitions and teaching art classes to groups and individuals. Christine also specializes in creating commission paintings as well. Living in the Northwest she is daily inspired to paint mountains, coastal scenes and other Oregon landscapes. Recently she has enjoyed painting vineyards, country sides and occasionally a classic Portland cityscape. Check out the portfolio where you can see a variety of her paintings finished over the past couple of years.

Christine paints with oils, acrylics and watercolors. She says, "My artwork is a combination of impressionism and realism. I love using thick textured paint to add dimension and interest. I also use bright and vibrant colors in my paintings to illuminate when hanging on a wall. I believe that art, in its most successful form, is to make us feel something and teach us something about beauty. I do my best to paint in a way that would bring joy to others."
