June Movies that Matter @ Bag&Baggage
We are trying something different for Movies that Matter in June.
Rather than our usual routine of meeting at the church for a potluck dinner, movie screening and discussion following, we are taking Movies that Matter out into the public square.
On Friday evening, June 15th, Bag & Baggage theater is showing a documentary called Dolores, about the life and work of activist, Dolores Huerta. This is part of their current Films for 5 series. This particular film series is “a quartet of films focused on important issues, people, and moments in America’s fight for social justice and equity. These films bring together a diverse range of stories, from current day conflicts around race and identity, issues related to police violence and racism, important figures from America’s history of social justice activism, and crucial discussions about the future of our very own planet” (from the Bag & Baggage web site).
All proceeds for this screening will benefit Centro Cultural de Washington County (https://www.centrocultural.org/).
So, if you are interested in joining us for Movies that Matter in June, purchase your tickets here (
https://bagnbaggage.org/play-event/dolores/) and please purchase tickets soon since we do not know how many tickets are available.
Please RSVP on
Facebook and/or
Meetup.com. We will pick a nearby restaurant and plan to meet for dinner at 6:30pm. The screening of Dolores begins at 7:30pm. If anyone is interested, we can find a nearby place to discuss the film over beverages afterward.
Hope to see you there!
