Faith News Update for October 13th, 2016
October 16th, 2016
9:30am Sunday
Worship with Holy Communion

Hannah's Prayer

Gospel Reading for this Sunday:

1 Samuel 1:9-11, 19-20; 2:1-10

We continue our series, Love Our Muslim Neighbors Without Limits this Sunday. Stay after worship for a discussion & video.

Last week we begin with some basic learning about the faith and history of Islam, and gave thoughtful attention to our questions and our concerns.

If you'd couldn't join us last week here is a helpful resource and overview.

Later in the series we will take the next step of reaching out to members of Bilal Masjid, so that together we might create opportunities for further conversation, greater trust and interaction and mutual understanding.

The WoW Team is meeting this coming Tuesday, October 18th from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The WoW Team is the group that led the July Resiliency event. We will be brainstorming ideas on events for 2017. Please join us!
This special event is the result of conversations with community partners at Domestic Violence Resource Center.
Please join us!

Our Wings group is supporting this event by providing hospitality.

There will be a sign up at church this Sunday, or you can email Kris Hoggard to let her know that you will be there and what how you can help.

While we are asking for volunteers to help provide hospitality for our guests who will be attending this event, we also hope you will consider coming simply to participate. One of the most powerful things one person can do for another is to simply be present for them. We are seeking to provide sacred and safe space where difficult stories can be shared… a place where these stories can be received without advice or judgment, just grace and love.

The Survivor Stories event is not just for people who have stories to share about violence they have experienced. It is also an opportunity for all of us to show care and support for people in our community simply by listening and being present.
