Maria Hinojosa, nationally-recognized journalist is coming to Washington County on Friday! VAN, the City of Hillsboro and Centro Cultural are

As the anchor and executive producer of the long-running weekly NPR show Latino USA, and as anchor of the Emmy Award-winning talk show Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One from WGBH/La Plaza, Hinojosa has informed millions of Americans about the fastest growing group in our country. Then on Friday evening consider joining the community for this event:
"We are lighting 800 candles on October 6th to raise local awareness for the 800,000 DACA recipients - 1 candle will symbolically represent 1,000 DACA recipients - in the United States. The executive decision to rescind DACA not only impacts hundreds of thousands of youth across the country, but hundreds here in Washington County. October 6th is the first day the program prevents recipients from renewing their permits.
We hope to count on your support to light a candle and stand in solidarity with Dreamers across the country and in our community."
