Your Corinth PTA Newsletter

Hello, Corinth Families!

Thank you so much for everyone's support of the Corinth Auction last night. What a great event! A HUGE thank you to Betsy Ballard and Lindsay Peattie for leading the charge on this event. Stay tuned to find out soon how much was raised at the event to support our school.

Don't forget about the PTA parent education speaker on Tuesday, March 5. Childcare will be provided. Visit the link below to signup!

Here's what's happening this week:

  • Mar 5: Parent Education - Mental Health Speaker
  • Mar 8: No school
  • March 11-15: Spring Break

Due to Spring Break, there will not be a newsletter next week. Have a great Spring Break!

Leanne Beezley
PTA President

What an amazing turnout we had Saturday night at the Corinth Elementary Auction. The event was a huge success and it was due to everyone who came out and bid it up. We are tallying final numbers and will be sending more information later this week about how much was raised, how to pick up items that were left, how to keep bidding (there are still a few items available), and more!  Look for that to come on Tuesday! In the meantime, thank you for reaching deep for such a special cause!
Parent Education - Save-the-Date
Please join us Tuesday, March 5th for a presentation on mental health awareness for elementary students. The presentation will take place in the Corinth Library at 6:30 pm. Kate Melton, Prevention Coordinator from Johnson County Mental Health will be sharing general information on issues facing elementary age students and how parents can be aware and help their student.

Shawnee Mission East's SHARE group will be providing childcare in the gym. To sign your Corinth student up for childcare visit the signup genius.
Box Tops for Education
Thanks to all of the families, teachers, and staff who supported the Spring Box Tops for Education drive. We raised another $147 from clipping box tops this winter, and we appreciate your support. As promised, we have three, $10 Foo's gift cards to give away to students who support the Box Tops drive. Our winners are as follows:
In 4th Grade, Mrs. Leaders class: Owen Tyler
In 2nd Grade, Ms. Monteil's class: Hudson Klocke
In Kindergarten, Mrs. Huntley's class: Natalie Yarlagadda
Also, the class room with the highest participation is 2nd Grade, Mrs. Molteni's class, so congratulations for winning an extra recess from Mr. Lowe. Keep clipping box tops, as they will count toward next year's collection drive!
Spring Fling - Save-the-Date

Spring Fling - Volunteers Needed
Please consider volunteering to help out at the Father/Daughter Dance. Please visit the Sign Up Genius to help out!
SMSD Parent Information Night
For the next SMSD parent information night, on March 21 at 6:30 at East Antioch Elementary we will be hosting the Sunflower House as they speak on Keeping Kids Safe Online. This event is intended for adults to learn more about possible dangers of internet usage, practical safety tips & tools and the cybercrimes process.

For more details, view the attached flyer.
Garden Committee
Now that we are starting to thaw out the Corinth Garden Committee needs volunteers to help spruce up the school's south side garden area. Tasks will include raking leaves, trimming box woods, pulling out old/dead brush around the pond and planting new shrubs and flowers.
Join us Saturday, March 23 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a rain-out date of Saturday, April 6. Be sure to bring gloves and any tools you'd like to use (labeled), however, we'll have extras on hand. Contact Melissa Greenstein with any questions. Thanks and we'll see you there!
