Your Corinth PTA Newsletter
Week of October 12-16, 2015
Hello Corinth Families!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you to all who have already joined the Corinth PTA by paying your Annual Dues.

Thank you to all who have attended the Parent Parties and donated to the Corinth PTA.

Thank you to all who have already donated minutes, hours or days of your time to help the Corinth Community.

We are grateful for every dollar and every minute that you are able to spend on our school, and you should feel good about that donation. Your children will know that you support their school and they will ultimately benefit from it.

Thank you to all who participate in the Corinth PTA and Corinth community. Have a great week! Go Royals!

Erin Herbst
PTA President

TO DO THIS WEEK:
1 . Order your Printed Directories
This Tuesday (October 13) is the LAST Day to order printed directories. To do so, you must join the PTA by clicking on one of the options below, or submitting a check with your form.

If you don't need a printed directory, you may still join the PTA by paying your Annual Dues at any time during the year, but we prefer you do it sooner! We are aiming for 100% participate of ALL parents and teachers!

To pay for your PTA Dues online, simply choose which option you would like and click the appropriate button just below.

If you prefer to pay by check, CLICK HERE. For questions about Membership, contact: Mandi Hunter.

2. WALK OR BIKE TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY

This is our final Walking Wednesday of 2015. The first week, Mr. Lowe challenged us to have 100 walkers and bikers, and we exceeded his goal (191)! The second week, he challenged us to 200, and we had 267. Last week, he challenged us to 300, and we almost made it (292)! He's challenging us again to have 300 walkers or bikers on Wednesday.

If we reach his goal again, the class with the highest number of walkers/bikers will get an extra recess and kickball game with Mr. Lowe! Also, every student who walks or bikes to school on Wednesdays will get a sticker and be entered in a drawing for a cool prize! See below for winners from the last two weeks.

3. Submit your child's entry for The Corinth PTA 2015 Citizenship Contest by Friday 10/16

This year’s theme is “I Can Be a Hero in My Community by…”.

We look forward to receiving the essay and poetry entries from our 5th and 6th graders as the quality and effort put into past entries has been excellent!

Entries are due in the school office by Friday, October 16th, and students can participate by submitting a poem and/or an essay related to the theme. (They are not limited to choosing a category if they would like to do both).

Please look out for the entry forms in your child’s backpack so they can get started on this annual fun project!

We look forward to reading the inspirational messages from our talented Dragons! Winning entries will be announced in late October/early November and have the chance to compete at the District and State Levels.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by email, or phone: 816-694-0543(cell) or 913-385-0391(home).

4. Parents of 2nd and 3rd Graders: Attend the Parent Party on Saturday Night

In conjunction with the grade-level Parent Parties, we are raising funds for the PTA's major financial initiatives (Spanish Program and Math Aide). The suggested donation is $125/child. Of course, donations of all sizes are sincerely appreciated and anonymous. We are grateful for what ever amount your budget allows. Don't forget that this is a tax-deductible donation, and to find out if your employer will match your donation.

If you prefer to pay by check, please place your check in the envelope included with your Parent Party invitation, and bring to the party, or deliver it to the school office.

*Please consider adding 3% to your donation to help us cover the costs associated with accepting credit card payments. Suggested donation would be $128.75/child.

5. Support the Corinith Elementary School Library
What a great way to honor your child! Join the Birthday Book Club.

THANK YOU to our Volunteers!

The Corinth PTA is as successful as it is because of the hundreds of volunteers. We have 13 parents on the Board, and 38 Committees, many with more than one chair. Each week we use this space to show our appreciation for the people who just finished an event. But so many of these people work tirelessly throughout the year, and we cannot thank them enough.

If you are interested in helping with a committee, please reach out to the chair. From now on, you can access the list with contacts for the PTA Board and Committee Chairs in the link at the bottom of these weekly emails.

We could not do all we do for Corinth without the time and dedication these volunteers give:
