The Dragon Digest

Your Corinth PTA Newsletter
Week of November 2-6 2015
Hello Corinth Families!

It's a relatively quiet week at Corinth, and as I send this, I'm waiting to see if our boys will bring home the crown, or come back to the K on Tuesday.

In the mean time, there are several items on the "To Do" list you can begin.

And don't forget that 83rd Street will be closed from Ensley to Meadow for the next two weeks.

Erin Herbst
PTA President

TO DO THIS WEEK:
1. Volunteer at the Book Fair

SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT HERE.

Book Fair Hours:
Monday, November 9 ~ 8-3:45
Tuesday, November 10 ~ 8-3:45
Wednesday, November 11 ~ 8-3:45
Thursday, November 12 ~ 8-6

Typically Monday and Tuesday are preview days during which the kids will look at the book selection and choose which books they would like to have. Wednesday and Thursday are the purchasing days during which the kids buy their book selections, but anyone can buy books at any time during the week.

Thursday Shopping:
  • The usual First Friday PTA Coffee will be on the Second Thursday this November to allow parents the opportunity to mingle and shop.
  • We are open Thursday evening. Come shop after work!
2. MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE LEGISLATIVE FORUM November 17

We ask you to RSVP so that we know how many chairs to set up.

Contact Jessica Marien for more information.
3. BRING IN CANS FOR A GOOD CAUSE

It is time again for the “We Care I Can” Canned Food Drive!

This year, Girls on the Run’s (GOTR) Corinth Chapter is partnering with the Shawnee Mission School District to lead the drive at Corinth! As part of the GOTR Mission, each chapter participates in a Community Service Project during their program session. From November 1 – 24th the Corinth Community can donate canned foods to help those Johnson County families in need this holiday season.

Items needed include: Canned tomatoes, fruit, corn, peas, cereal, macaroni & cheese, Jello, peanut butter, dry baby food, canned meat, canned dinners and soups. For more information you can visit the JCCB Website.

GOTR will have grade level boxes set up in the hallway outside of the office throughout the month of November. The grade that donates the most during the donation drive will get an extra recess/outdoor activity after the Thanksgiving holiday! All donations will be picked up by the 24th so make sure you donate early and often.

Good Luck Dragons! Let’s show the community how Corinth gives back!

Thanks for your assistance!

4. SIGN UP FOR CHAT-N-CHEW

Does your 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grader love to read? Chat-n-Chew is a fun "book club" where the students and parent volunteers read four books in the spring semester, and meet at lunchtime to discuss each one.

CLICK HERE for the Sign-Up form and more information. Contact Margi Wilson or Kelly Cannova.

Form due November 24.

Look for the book selections at the Scholastic Book Fair next week!
5. Attend the Veterans Day Celebration on Friday

Help Corinth honor our Veterans on Friday, November 6th at 1:00.
