Hello Corinth Families!

I am thankful for all the good things that happened at Corinth last week, and for all the support that made those good things happen. Thanks for helping the school at Papa Keno's night on Monday. It was great to see all the little faces at the book fair all week long, excited about reading! I was honored to be at the Veteran's Day assembly in the presence of so many of our veteran guests, and to learn more about their service. Skate City was so much fun on Friday -- I'm proud I managed to not break a leg. And, it was great to see big and little dragons out helping on a beautiful Saturday morning to spruce up the garden and school! Thank you to to everyone who helped with all of those events -- lots of hands made it all possible.

Your to-do list for this week:
* Come to the Leglative Affairs Forum tomorrow (Monday) night! We are lucky enough to have your Kansas legislators - Representative Clayton and new Senator Bollier at our school. It is a special opportunity to listen, ask questions & get first-hand knowledge about Kansas politics.
* If you need a picture retake, it is Tuesday.
*Bring in cans all week for the We Care, I Can drive. Boxes are in the main hallway by grade. There will be a friendly grade-level competition!
* We need parent volunteers for the grandparents lunch (Nov. 22nd). Please email me if you can help in the 10:30-1:00 time frame!

Amy McCarthy
PTA President

Corinth Parents, you are cordially invited to our 2016 Legislative Affairs Forum! Come talk Kansas politics!
Monday night, 11/14, at 7:00-8:30 p.m., in our Corinth library. Please come and speak with our state representatives about school finance, or any other questions about our local legislative process. We will be joined by Rep. Stephanie Clayton, Senator-elect Barbara Bollier, and Ms. Mary Fox Sinclair, SMAC Legislative Chair.
Please contact me with questions, and I hope to see you Monday night! Jessica Marien

Sponsor the Auction

The fundraising goal of the 2017 Corinth Benefit Auction is $100,000! It will be the highest grossing fundraiser of Corinth’s and we need your help to get there. Becoming a corporate sponsor not only provides your business exposure to all Corinth families and area patrons, but it underwrites the cost of the event so that every live and silent item sold is profit to fund the Maker Space, Spanish program and math aide. Interested? Contact Erin Herbst to learn more.

Collection boxes are available now in the main hallway, and are organized by grade level. There is a friendly competition between the grades to see who can bring in the most cans. The boxes will be available at Corinth from November 9-November 21.

Shawnee Mission School District is participating in the We Care, I Can Food Drive for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. The JCCB provides warmth and sustenance to low income Johnson County, Kansas families during the cold winter holiday season and serves between 12,000 and 14,000 low income neighbors each year. The most-needed items for the food drive are: canned tomatoes, fruit, corn, peas, cereal, mac and cheese, PB, dry baby food, canned dinners and soups. Our YIA club is assisting in the collection at Corinth this year!

Please do what you can (pun intended) to help this good cause.
Tuesday, November 15
Picture Retake Day: If your child is having their yearbook picture retaken, please have them bring back their Lifetouch picture packet. If they missed the first picture day, please let them know they need it taken on Tuesday. Yearbook photos will be also be taken for all clubs and activities, as well as classroom group shots.
See flyer here for more information.

So far… we have raised over $31,000 & 60% of Corinth families have participated!

Can we get it to 75% in our final effort??

If you haven’t had the chance to donate, you still can! Send a check made out to “Corinth PTA” via backpack mail. Please put it in an envelope marked “Parent Parties” with your child’s grade.

Chat-n-Chew is here! Calling all 3rd-6th graders! Get out of the lunchroom and have some fun chatting with your friends about one of the awesome books chosen for your grade. Your leaders will have fun things planned for your discussion... all you have to do is read a good book.
Parents: Please look over the attached list of Chat-n-Chew books for this year. Each student will need to purchase, borrow or check out the books listed for their grade level. We need to have your child return the attached enrollment form if they would like to participate in order to place them in a group. Please return this form by November 29th!

See here for flyer with more information, enrollment form, and volunteer form.
Vineyard Vines - Corinth Shopping Night
Get some of your shopping done and support Corinth at the same time....and where better to do it than Vineyard Vines! Join us on the Plaza on Thursday, December 8 from 5pm - 9pm and get 10% off your entire purchase while Vineyard Vines gives 10% back to Corinth's PTA. It's a win/win so be sure to check your lists and check them twice!

Thank you!

Big thank you to Brea Noblit who stepped up to organize Corinth's Veteran's Day assembly. Also, thank you to Dan Tyler for his help! It was such a nice way to recognize and remember our Veterans.

Thank you to our chairs, Christie Walton, Stacia Wilklund, Debra Rettenmaier & Katie Saylor, for a fun and successful Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to the many of you who volunteered to make it run! And thank you to all who supported this by shopping!

Thank you to Carole Lechevin and Melissa
Greenstein for organizing the garden and school cleanup on Saturday. It was so nice to see so many big and little dragons out helping to pull weeds and move mulch. Special thank you to the 6th grade girl scouts for helping!
