Hello Corinth Families!

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! It is always a wonderful day to reflect on the many things we all have for which we should be thankful. I certainly am thankful both for my family and for the wonderful Corinth community that surrounds them.

Your to-do list for this week:
* Monday is the last day for the We Care, I Can Food Drive! Remember to bring in your donations tomorrow!
* The Grandparent lunch is Tuesday. We still need parent volunteers to help it run smoothly. Please email me if you can help in the 10:30-1:00 time frame!
* No school Wednesday-Friday for the Thanksgiving break.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy a little extra time with friends and family this week!

CORINTH BENEFIT AUCTION

Couple and family get-aways are always a hit at our auction. We take the planning off your plate and offer unique get-aways that the highest bidder can enjoy, all while donating to Corinth and getting a tax write-off.

The donation committee is seeking travel and hotel resources to offer travel packages at the March 4th event. If you have contacts in the travel industry, membership points or mileage that you are willing to donate, please contact Jenn Miller or Betsy Ballard. You will receive a tax receipt for your donation.

WE CARE, I CAN FOOD DRIVE
Collection boxes are available now in the main hallway, and are organized by grade level. There is a friendly competition between the grades to see who can bring in the most cans. The boxes will be available at Corinth from November 9-November 21.

Shawnee Mission School District is participating in the We Care, I Can Food Drive for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. The JCCB provides warmth and sustenance to low income Johnson County, Kansas families during the cold winter holiday season and serves between 12,000 and 14,000 low income neighbors each year. The most-needed items for the food drive are: canned tomatoes, fruit, corn, peas, cereal, mac and cheese, PB, dry baby food, canned dinners and soups. Our YIA club is assisting in the collection at Corinth this year!

Please do what you can (pun intended) to help this good cause.

PARENT PARTIES
So far… we have raised over $31,000 & 60% of Corinth families have participated!

Can we get it to 75% in our final effort??

If you haven’t had the chance to donate, you still can! Send a check made out to “Corinth PTA” via backpack mail. Please put it in an envelope marked “Parent Parties” with your child’s grade.

CHAT-N-CHEW
Chat-n-Chew is here! Calling all 3rd-6th graders! Get out of the lunchroom and have some fun chatting with your friends about one of the awesome books chosen for your grade. Your leaders will have fun things planned for your discussion... all you have to do is read a good book.
Parents: Please look over the attached list of Chat-n-Chew books for this year. Each student will need to purchase, borrow or check out the books listed for their grade level. We need to have your child return the attached enrollment form if they would like to participate in order to place them in a group. Please return this form by November 29th!

See here for flyer with more information, enrollment form, and volunteer form.
PARENT COFFEE AND MAKER SPACE TOUR
Parents, join us for coffee, a word from Mr. Lowe and tour of the Maker Space on Friday, December 2nd. Parents may gather in the cafeteria after dropoff for coffee and catching up. Mr. Lowe will provide updates on the school and give parents a tour of the Maker Space!
Vineyard Vines - Corinth Shopping Night
Get some of your shopping done and support Corinth at the same time....and where better to do it than Vineyard Vines! Join us on the Plaza on Thursday, December 8 from 5pm - 9pm and get 10% off your entire purchase while Vineyard Vines gives 10% back to Corinth's PTA. It's a win/win so be sure to check your lists and check them twice!
GRANDPARENT LUNCH

Corinth Grandparents are invited to have lunch with their grandchild(ren) on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

See flyer here for more information and reservation form.
USED BOOK SALE
It is that time of the year again. We are starting to collect used books for the used book sale at Corinth. The sale will run the week of February 6. We need kids books, chapter books and adult books. You can drop them off at the school. We will be partnering up again with Hooked on Books. AFter the sale, all of the books that are left will be donated to kids in the greater KC area.
GOT OLD CORINTH T-SHIRTS?
The 6th grade classes will be making a t-shirt quilt as their classroom treasure gift for the school auction. We are looking for used and/or new Corinth t-shirts to make this happen. We need all sizes, any year and any style. We will be collecting during the months of November and December. Look for the collection bin in the school office. Contact Amy Turpin for questions.
BOX TOPS
With all the yummy holiday food coming up, there are sure to be a couple of packages with the box tops for education on them. Do not forget to clip those box tops for Corinth! Every little bit counts.
DEWEY'S PIZZA RESTAURANT NIGHT
Eat pizza to raise funds! Join us at Dewey's Pizza at 3615 W 95th Street, Overland Park on Monday, January 9th. Present the paper certificate or via mobile device (see here) and up to 20% of all food and beverage purchases from 4-10 (dine-in or carry-out) will be donated to Corinth!
Thank you!
CORINTH COFFEEHOUSE
The Staff Appreciation Committee brought in a barista and several parents supplied yummy bakery treats for the staff to enjoy their own personal coffeehouse! This is always a staff favorite and was a great way for them to stay caffeinated while teaching our kiddos! Special thanks to Julie Baker, Megan Barbre, Valorie Coffland, Jennie Cronin, Kate Gasper, Jessica Klocke, Kimberly Levitan, Laura Moore, LIndsay Peattie, Stacey Stinson, Emily Tomlinson, and Ashley West for bringing in all of the goodies.

RETAKE PICTURE DAY
Another picture retake day is down in the books! Please give a big thank you to Richard Schrock, Christine Meuten & Debbie Jackson for helping us!

LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS FORUM
Thank you to Jessica Marien for organizing, and special thank yous to Representative Clayton and Senator Bollier for attending our legislative forum on Monday. They provided a unique and candid inside view of Kansas politics for an absolutely fascinating discussion.
