Week of December 5 - December 9, 2016
Hello Corinth Families!

I am sure your personal to-do list is long, so luckily our school to-do list for this week is short (and hopefully helps you with your personal one too!):

* Come down to the Plaza Thursday night for some shopping at Vinyard Vines to benefit Corinth.

Amy McCarthy
PTA President
Congratulations to the following students for winning the Corinth PTA Reflections contest!
Milana Florkowski
Hadlee Zartner
Tess Gotschall
Colton Sims
Eve Benditt
Demitri Stadlman
These artistic Dragons will advance to the district competition!

The PTA is collecting funds to show our appreciation to the Corinth staff who do so much for the kids. If you would like to make a small ($5-10) contribution to the PTA's Holiday Gift Fund, we will purchase gift cards for the staff on behalf of the Corinth family.
Please send donations to the office by Friday, December 16th, and mark the envelope Bridget Hoffman - Holiday Fund.
See flyer here for more information.
Any questions, please contact Bridget Hoffman.

Participating in the auction can be as simple as making a meal or donating some wine glasses. Two easy opportunities to contribute to live auction items are below. All donations are tax-deductible, simply request a form from Jenn Miller or Trisha Sims for your 2016 taxes with your donation.

Meals on Wheels
Take one night a week off from cooking as the winner of Meals on Wheels. You'll be the ever-so fortunate recipient of weekly meals for your family every Thursday night from Aug 24, 2017 - May 17, 2018. In order to fulfill this live auction item, we need cooks! If you are able to make dinner for the winners family, please sign up here. This is a simple way for families to help with the auction. Sign up: {username: Corinth, password: Dragons2016}

Stock the Bar
This live auction item will stock your bar with nearly every spirit, wine, mixer and accessory you’ll need to host your next party. Please consider donating new wine/beer glasses, bar tools or a wine fridge to provide the complete bar experience. All beverages have been graciously donated by Worldwide Wine and Spirits. We would like to collect all items by 1.31.2017. Items may be dropped off at the school office or delivered to Jenn Miller's home.

So far… we have raised over $31,000 & 60% of Corinth families have participated!

Can we get it to 75% in our final effort??

If you haven’t had the chance to donate, you still can! Send a check made out to “Corinth PTA” via backpack mail. Please put it in an envelope marked “Parent Parties” with your child’s grade.

Vineyard Vines - Corinth Shopping Night
Get some of your shopping done and support Corinth at the same time....and where better to do it than Vineyard Vines! Join us on the Plaza on Thursday, December 8 from 5pm - 9pm and get 10% off your entire purchase while Vineyard Vines gives 10% back to Corinth's PTA. It's a win/win so be sure to check your lists and check them twice!
We invite anyone with comments or questions on the Spanish program or an interest in serving on the Spanish Special committee to email Dani Beaver, the PTA VP of Academic Enrichment.
It is that time of the year again. We are starting to collect used books for the used book sale at Corinth. The sale will run the week of February 6. We need kids books, chapter books and adult books. You can drop them off at the school. We will be partnering up again with Hooked on Books. After the sale, all of the books that are left will be donated to kids in the greater KC area.
The 6th grade classes will be making a t-shirt quilt as their classroom treasure gift for the school auction. We are looking for used and/or new Corinth t-shirts to make this happen. We need all sizes, any year and any style. We will be collecting during the months of November and December. Look for the collection bin in the school office. Contact Amy Turpin for questions.
With all the yummy holiday food coming up, there are sure to be a couple of packages with the box tops for education on them. Do not forget to clip those box tops for Corinth! Every little bit counts.
Eat pizza to raise funds! Join us at Dewey's Pizza at 3615 W 95th Street, Overland Park on Monday, January 9th. Present the paper certificate or via mobile device (see here) and up to 20% of all food and beverage purchases from 4-10 (dine-in or carry-out) will be donated to Corinth!

Calling all poets!

Lend your talents for the district’s new Center for Academic Achievement

We are seeking submissions of poetry written by current Shawnee Mission School District students for consideration to be included in a display in the district’s new Center for Academic Achievement.

What kind of poem?

Our theme, education, is general to allow some personalization.

Writers could choose to articulate the importance of education, their personal journey of education, impact of teachers, etc.

Rules for Submission

The short poem entries should be no more than five lines of text and include a title along with your name, grade level, and school.

All entries should be submitted online using this link.

Due Date:

Deadline for entries to be submitted is 5 p.m. on December 15, 2016.

The art room is in need of glue sticks and baby wipes if you are able to donate some to the cause. Thank you!
Thank you!
Additional thank yous to Dan Tyler and Nicole Muller for helping with the grandparents' lunch.

Congratulations to the winning grade - kindergarten -- and thank you to all who donated this year!

Thank you to Gretchen Selberg for organizing, thank you to Todd Harris for speaking and sharing his enthusiasm for the Maker Space, and thank you to Mr. Lowe and the Dragons for the tour and demonstration of the Maker Space in action!
