The Dragon Digest

Your Corinth PTA Newsletter
Week of August 17 - 21, 2015
Hello Corinth Families!

I hope your first week of school went well, and your Dragons have told you about the toilet plungers. (Don't worry - there were no plumbing issues, aside from the water main break)!

We have a lot happening at and for the school. Please make sure you mark your calendars for Parent Parties and Lunches on the Lawn.

And you can read below to learn about opportunities to join and help our Corinth community.

Wishing you all a great first full week of school!

Erin Herbst
PTA President

PTA NEWS:
Parent Parties are Coming!

These fun, casual, adult-only events, are a great way to connect with parents in your child's grade, and are held in conjunction with our annual fundraising. Parents should look for an evite and/or an invitation and donation envelope to come home via backpack mail 2 weeks before the party. Suggested donation is $125/student, but all donations are appreciated. Our PTA will use this money to:
  • Fund the twice-weekly Spanish program for every student.
  • Fund a full time Math aide.
  • Give grants to teachers, so that they don't have to use their own money for classroom supplies.
  • Hold STEM events, such as Health and Science Night and Mathletics.
  • Provide every student with a yearbook.
  • Promote health and wellness with events like Walking Wednesdays.
  • Assist in our community.
Thanks to all our hosts!

Saturday, August 29: 6th Grade hosted by Amanda & Dave Hassett
Friday, September 11: 4th Grade hosted by Jo Ellen & Dave Dyer

Meals on Wheels Needs a New Home

The winner of the auction's Meals on Wheels will be moving to Texas and is unable to benefit from the weekly meals graciously provided by Corinth families. If anyone is interested in purchasing this helpful item from the Shahs, we will be accepting offers until August 28th. The family paid $1,700 to receive a weekly meal or gift card for their family each Thursday through the school year. If you are willing to pay the full amount, please contact Trisha Sims and the item will be awarded to the first respondent. If we do not receive an offer for the full amount, the highest offer received by 11:59 p.m. on August 28th will receive the item.
Please email Trisha with any questions and/or submit your offer.

THANK YOU to our Volunteers!
  • August Staff Appreciation: Thank you to the following ladies who helped us welcome the Corinth staff back to school on Thursday, 6 August with a Back to School Breakfast.
