Week of January 30 - February 3, 2017
Hello Corinth Families!

It is another short week this week, Dragons (I am starting to feel like a broken record). We have no school on Friday for conferences. But, speaking of calendars, the SMSD one for next year (2017-18) is out, and they have made some signficant changes. Highlights include a first-day 1/2 day on August 11, a full week off at Thanksgiving, no days off for parent-teacher conferences, fewer 1/2 days, and a last day of May 25th. Calendar can be seen here.

Your to-do list for this week:
  • Sign up to help with the used book sale! We need help with lots of slots still open.
  • RSVP for the auction. Look for your invitation and below for more information.
  • Check out our newly relaunched website, which will serve as a portal to PTA and school content
  • No school on Friday - conferences
Thanks!

CORINTH BENEFIT AUCTION,
presented by Country Club Bank

Tickets
The auction is March 4th. Don’t delay, RSVP by Feb. 16th and buy your tickets to this not-to-miss event. Tickets are $50/person and includes heavy appetizers, beer, wine and signature cocktail*.

Go here to purchase your tickets and register your credit card information for purchases the night of the auction. All proceeds from the event benefit Corinth, funding resources the school district and state budgets no longer cover. It’s a great night out and supports our Dragons! *Signature cocktail is a Moscow Mule, $10 one-time charge for a copper mug that’s yours to keep and refills included!

Live and Silent Auction Items

Stay tuned to check out the silent and live items that will be available at the event. They will be viewable on BidPal a few weeks before the auction.

Become a Friend of Corinth for Early Bidding!

Sponsor the auction for just $100 and receive early party bidding before open to other bidders. With your tax-deductible donation of $100, you will be granted early access to the parent and kids parties offered through the auction. These unique, limited attendee parties always sell out so be sure to become a Friend of Corinth for VIP access to parties. Contact Erin Herbst to become a donor.

YIA
The next YIA event for 5th and 6th graders is at Harvesters on February 3rd from 10am-12pm. If your student is interested in participating and hasn't signed up, please contact Kelly Green

Staff Appreciation
This month, the Staff Appreciation Committee treated staff to a pasta luncheon from Buca Di Beppo. Enjoyed by the small staff that was at school during another no-kid Friday, the lunch also included yummy sides and desserts provided by our wonderful parents. Special thanks to Valorie Coffland, Natalie Frank, Tracy Kelting, Sarah MacKay, Trisha Sims, Stacey Stinson, Amy Thurston

FOOD SERVICE

Did you know…………

Did you know that physical activity and nutrition work together for better health? Regular physical activity can produce long term health benefits. People of all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities can benefit from being physically active. The more physical activity you do, the greater the health benefits. Children and adolescents should do 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Most of the 60 minutes should be either moderate- or vigorous intensity aerobic physical activity.

Did you know the Food Service Department has a new location? The Food Service office is now located at:

Broadmoor Center

6701 W. 83rd St.

Shawnee Mission, KS 66204

Don’t forget – if your child receives free or reduced meals, they are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch per day as part of this benefit. All breakfast and lunch meal choices are available for all students regardless of eligibility status.
