Your Corinth PTA Newsletter
Week of April 4-8, 2016
Hello Corinth Families!

It's April, baseball season has begun, and it's starting to feel like summer with temperatures over 80 degrees today! Speaking of summer, because we only used one "snow day" (for the Royals parade in November), the last day of school will be on Monday, May 23 - a half day.

In the meantime, we have lots of springtime activities ahead. Our Walking and Biking Wednesdays begin this week, and the Spring Fling will be on Friday. Both events rely on volunteers to be successful. Please see the links below - there are lots of options depending on your availability.

Have a great week!

Erin Herbst
PTA President
1. Walk or Bike To School on Wednesday

The Walking and Biking Wednesdays program encourages all students to walk or ride their bike to school at least four times per semester. The program promotes healthy habits, reduces traffic congestion, boosts our sense of community and encourages our cities to provide safe routes to school. Our Spring walking dates are April 6, 13, 20, 27, and May 4.

One responsibility of the program is to provide a Walking School Bus for students who may not live within walking distance of the school. Our walking school bus provides two bus stop locations, one at Leawood Presbyterian Church and the other at 3508 West 89th Street. We rely on volunteers to lead the walking school bus and ensure our students have a safe route to school.

We still need many volunteers to make this safe and successful for all our Dragons. Volunteering is easy - especially if you are already planning on walking with your student.

2. K-2: Attend Curriculum Night on Thursday, 6 - 7 p.m.

We are excited to welcome kindergarten families to our Curriculum Night on April 7th. The boys and girls have been working hard and would love to give you a tour of the classroom, show you their journals and other work, tell you how to sign up for centers, explain the projects they have created on their iPads, view their artwork, and meet their friends from class. See you next Thursday night!

2015-2016 Corinth Yearbook

We know that one of the most treasured items from your child’s school years is their yearbook. That’s why the Corinth PTA is making sure each Corinth student will receive a complimentary yearbook. This will be a full color yearbook with 60 pages of highlights and events from the school year.

However, if your child needs an additional yearbook, you can purchase an extra one:

  • Bring a check in the amount of $16 to the office, made payable to “Corinth PTA.”
  • Please note “your child’s name” and “yearbook” on the check.
  • Send an email to Laura Cribb to make sure your additional yearbook is added to the total order.
  • Please send your email and bring your check to the office by April 8, 2016.
