Week of May 8-12, 2017
Hello Corinth Families!

2 more weeks to go, and it is already starting to feel like summertime out there. But, we still have some serious schooling going on. Good luck to many of our Dragons with MAP testing this week!

Your to-do list for this week:
  • Please take a few minutes to complete the PTA survey (link below) about the Spanish Program.
  • Please check under the bed and in your bookcases at home for school books that need to be returned. They were due May 8th!
  • Can you volunteer to help on Monday, May 22 with the SMAC Clothing Exchange? It is a great opportunity to do good for our Shawnee Mission community.
  • Field Day is Friday!

Amy McCarthy
PTA President

FIELD DAY will be held on Friday, May 12th (Rainout will be Monday, May 15th)

4th – 5th Graders 9:00-11:15

Kindergarten 12:30 – 2:00

1st – 3rd Graders 12:45 – 2:45

As with previous years, 6th Graders will help coordinate the activities, however we will still need parent volunteers to prep and oversee stations at the event. Please sign up for either a morning and/or afternoon shift as your schedule allows. Thank you so much for your help in making this year's Field Day a success!

Any questions please contact Maureen Schwartz.

The Corinth PTA currently supports the learning environment in the school by providing funds for two positions, a math aide and the Young Spanish program. As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best education for our students, we are seeking the input of our parent community to aid future planning. Please complete the following survey regarding the current Spanish program and allocation of these community raised funds.
Please take a minute and complete the survey here.

We are looking for 4 Corinth volunteers to help the SMAC Clothing Exchange on Monday, May 22nd. I can say from personal experience, that this is a great volunteer experience (and a great excuse to clean out the closets for a donation at the same time!). Please contact Amy McCarthy if you are able to come (I know school will be out, but you can even bring the kids to help! Kids under 12 just need adult supervision)
Located at Broadmoor Center

6701 W. 83rd St | Overland Park, KS 66204

Entrance in the back - Door #6

About the SMAC Clothing Exchange:
Clothing Exchange is made possible with SMSD PTA volunteers, in addition to monetary donations.

It is staffed 100%, by volunteer parents and families within our district.

Each PTA Unit in the district donates money to be used to buy new underwear and socks.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Sort donations
  • Hang donations
  • Assist shoppers

Each PTA Unit has an assigned volunteer day, however, anyone is welcome to volunteer more often!

Elementary schools are assigned from 8:30-11:00am

Tips for volunteering:

  • Arrive 30 minutes before shopping area opens
  • Elementary schools - send 4 volunteers
  • Children under 12 need to have an adult with them.
  • Please see flyer here for more information about the Clothing Exchange.
