Hello Corinth Families!

Thank you to everyone who is hosting, attending, and giving to the fall parent parties -- 4 down, 3 more to go! These events are always a good way to connect with other parents and raise a little money for a worthy cause (our kids). I had a great time at the 4th grade parent party this weekend, and I have the picture of disco Casey McCarthy to prove it!

Your to-do list for this week:

*Walking School Bus Wednesday. Let's set another new record!
*5th and 6th grade submissions to PTA Citizenship Contest due on Friday October 7
*Consider helping the Auction Committee with the Auction Blitz Day, rescheduled to October 7.
*5th and 6th Grade Parent Parties Saturday October 8.

Thanks!

Amy McCarthy
PTA President

Students can participate by submitting a poem and/or an essay related to the theme. (They are not limited to choosing a category if they would like to do both).
Please look out for the entry forms in your child’s backpack so they can get started on this annual fun project!
We look forward to reading the inspirational messages from our talented Dragons!

PTA Reflections Contest
What Is Your Story?
The national PTA sponsors an annual arts contest for students -- Reflections. Do you like to dance, produce a film, write a poem or story, compose a song, take a picture or create a piece of visual art? This year's Reflections theme is "What Is Your Story?" Tell us your story through one of the following: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, visual arts.

Once you pick your category, please let your teacher know and they will provide you with the guidelines and rules for your submission. Pieces will be due on or before October 14, 2006. Judging will take place for our school and top entries will move on to local, state, and possibly the national level. Please submit all digital files and/or questions to Stephanie Gazonas. Any type of art or sculptures can be dropped off at the front office.
YOUTH IN ACTION (YIA) NEWS

Just a reminder to 5th and 6th grade students to turn in YIA registration forms.

Our first meeting will be Oct 13th after dismissal. This is an early dismissal day.
Box Tops!
It's time to send in your Box Tops again!! I know many of you may ignore this information believing it to be too much trouble or just too confusing. But, did you know that last year we earned close to $1000 for our school?! Just imagine, if only 20 more families began collecting and donating box tops we could surely reach and exceed our goal!! It's easy to do and really does make a difference. If you haven't collected before, think about starting today!
Deadline for submission is October 19. The top 2 classes with the most Box Tops submitted will win a class party to celebrate a job well done!

Collecting Box Tops is an easy way to help your school and your child(ren) win a class party. Encourage grandparents and other family members to help!
Send collected Box Tops to school with your child anytime on or before October 19. Please be sure to group your box tops together in an envelope or baggie and label it with your child's teacher and grade.
Thank you so much for all of your help!

DID YOU KNOW?

FOOD SERVICE….Did you know…………

Did you know that National School Lunch Week is October 10-14, 2016? This year’s theme, “Show Your Spirit,” reminds parents, students and school officials that a healthy school lunch helps students power through the day! The National School Lunch Program has served our nation admirably for over 60 years through advanced practices and nutrition education. It is dedicated to the health and well-being of our nation’s children. Please help celebrate NSLW 2016.

Did you know that there are job openings with SMSD Food Services? You could work a few hours each day in one of our school kitchens. It’s a great way to earn some money while your student is at school. Check out our current job openings and apply here, go to Careers, Job Opportunities, click on View Current Job Openings and then Food Services.

Don’t forget – if your child receives free or reduced meals, they are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch per day as part of this benefit. All breakfast and lunch meal choices are available for all students regardless of eligibility status.

The school breakfast menus, lunch menus, and other nutrition information are available on the district’s website.
