January brings the return of the CIC Lunch Box series and 1 Million Cups weekly.  You can also join Washington University's Office of Technology Management for their Office Hours series on January 11. Below you will find out more about upcoming events as well as Aloft's snow rate as we prepare for winter weather in the region.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Observance
Monday, January 15, 2024 Cortex staff offices will be closed in observation of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. There are many ways to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in St. Louis. Below are a few upcoming events open to the community. 
Aloft Snow Rate

Washington University Office of Technology Management Office Hours: Intro to SBIR/STTR Grants

Are you working on an innovation you think should be spun out into a startup? What resources are available to help? How can you become involved in the innovation ecosystem in St. Louis?

Join us for “OTM Office Hours,” a program series from the Washington University Office of Technology Management covering the latest topics in tech transfer and innovation.

 

The OTM Office Hours series is kicking off 2024 on January 11 from 3-4 p.m. with an “Introduction to Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grants and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR)  Grants”. For more information/To Register

CIC Lunch and Learn
Join CIC for a discussion restorative justice as a means to peace, power and abolition.  This offering will include a discussion on responding to harm, sharing about Freedom Community Center, a black-led and black-centric abolition and liberation organization and their application of Transformative Justice and Peacemaking Circles to resist policing and incarceration. Through slides and story-telling, participants will learn varied applications of Peacemaking circles from building community, facilitating a meeting, savoring and celebrating a moment, or respectfully managing harm and conflict. Installation of a new fiber optic cable between Kingshighway and Boyle 

Beginning this week, Sachs Electric (ArchKey) began work on the Medical Campus to install a new fiber optic cable between Kingshighway and Boyle. Weather permitting, this work's planned duration is Tuesday, January 3rd, through the close of business on Friday, January 30th.

All work will be done during the day shift, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. daily. No anticipated street closures are involved, but intermittent lane obstructions and traffic shifts will occur.
