Washington University Office of Technology Management Office Hours: Crafting a Life Science Pitch Deck
The OTM Office Hours series is back on November 9th with “Crafting a Life Science Pitch Deck”, co-sponsored by The Skandalaris Center. Pitching your startup idea to investors can be a unique and daunting experience. Come learn the basics of how to craft a successful life science or healthcare pitch deck.And once we wrap, we’ll head to Venture Café in the same building! RSVP here.
Mindfulness and Music: CIC Lunch and Learn
Molly is a board-certified music therapist, trained in how to use music to help people regulate their emotions and build strong coping skills for everyday life. Filament Friday
Filament Friday is a unique blend of networking, co-working, and skill-sharing where you can meet new innovation-focused peers, find new ways to overcome current work challenges, and roll up your sleeves to make real progress on that project that never seems to get off the ground. You’ll leave with new connections, actionable strategies, and innovative ideas you can implement right away.

Experience a new drive thru wintertime light display @ Cortex!

See the Cortex Commons aglow from November 22 – January 7 as we celebrate the holiday season in St. Louis. This winter-themed photo opp offers lighted snowflakes, including one over 12 feet in height and illuminated trees in this easy-access environment along Boyle between Clayton and Forest Park Avenues. Drive by or stop for a selfie with the snowflakes to remember the season.


District Updates

Ongoing Construction at Goodwill Building

Demolition is ongoing at the Goodwill building located at 4140 Forest Park Ave. Subscribe to Cortex's Notification System, RAVE, for more detailed updates on the project and it's impact on the District. Subscribe here. 


Forest Park Street Closure for Tower Crane Removal

Removal of the last remaining tower crane for the new Ambulatory Cancer Center is planned for November 10th-November 12th. The activities will impact all eastbound vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Forest Park Avenue from Euclid to Taylor. Through traffic signs, vehicular traffic will be rerouted to turn North at Euclid towards Laclede Avenue or South towards Parkview Place. Pedestrian traffic will be routed to the North sidewalk on Forest Park Ave at Euclid. 
All dismantling, assist cranes and associated trucks will be within the area in front of the new cancer center.

Undergoing construction for the installation of a generator pad. Please make sure to pay attention to CIC updates regarding parking conditions.


Neuroscience Research Building (NRB) Kaldi's Cafe

Beginning October 23rd, NRB Kaldi's will operate under modified hours of Mon-Fri 8am-2pm and offer a limited menu. The modified hours and menu will be effective until January 2024. 


Medical Center Street Work Notification on Duncan

Sachs Electric (ArchKey) began working in August on the medical campus to extend conduit on Duncan Ave to the Goodwill Building @4140 Forest Park. The work requires road closure of Duncan Ave, which is happening Monday through Friday overnight. At the end of each shift, their traffic control will be removed, and traffic will resume normal activity.  Road plates will be utilized to protect the excavations. Weather permitting, the planned duration of this work is through mid-November. All work to be done in evening/night shifts. Cortex 1- Parking Lot Gate Project

Weather permitting, the parking lot gate project will begin on Monday, October 23rd. The entrances from Boyle and Duncan will be closed (gates 1 and 3). These entrances will reopen Monday, November 6th and the entrances from Forest Park and Boyle (gates 2 and 4) will be closed until Monday, November 20th. We ask that all employees be cautious of the parking lot work and remain at a safe distance at all times. Please also inform any guests of this work before their visit.
