Upcoming Happenings in Cortex

Even though there are only a few weeks left in 2023 there are still many upcoming events in Cortex in December. Join Filament for Filament Friday on December 8 and New Skills for Work on December 11. Enjoy the Julbord Buffet on December 8 at IKEA.  Mark your calendar to attend Venture Cafe's Winter Soiree hosted with CIC and Cortex on December 14.

Filament Friday
Upcoming on December 8, Filament Friday is a unique blend of networking, co-working, and skill-sharing where you can meet new innovation-focused peers, find new ways to overcome current work challenges, and roll up your sleeves to make real progress on that project that never seems to get off the ground. You’ll leave with new connections, actionable strategies, and innovative ideas you can implement right away.

Vicia Golden Hour
Join us Tuesday through Friday from 5-6pm and choose your own adventure from a la carte menu offerings not only in the bar but in our dining rooms for the first time.

We will have specially priced beverages, light bites and snacks, a rotating daily entree and a grilled flatbread dinner. So you can stop by for a few drinks and a small bite, a glass of wine and a meal, or any combination that works for you. 

No reservations are needed. Seating will be determined by our host based on dining room availability. It may be at our bar, in our main dining room or on our heated patio. Come over to Vicia and experience the glow of Golden Hour for yourself.
CIC Science Series
Join CIC and GenScript on December 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in 20 South Sarah for CIC Science Series. Science Series is an informal office hours session with vendors in a variety of fields. Come talk with specialists about scientific equipment and supplies and discover solutions for your laboratory needs.

Winter Soiree & Market
Join Venture Café, CIC and Cortex for the annual Winter Soiree on December 14 from 4-7pm. Food and drinks will be available as well as an opportunity to shop from STL entrepreneurs! 

Cortex aglow - a drive thru wintertime light display

See the Cortex Commons aglow from November 22 – January 7 as we celebrate the holiday season in St. Louis. This winter-themed photo opp offers lighted snowflakes, including one over 12 feet in height and illuminated trees in this easy-access environment along Boyle between Clayton and Forest Park Avenues. Drive by or stop for a selfie with the snowflakes to remember the season.

NEXT Missouri Policy Agenda Survey
The 2024 legislative session is just around the corner and NEXT Missouri is gearing up to advocate for policies that will boost entrepreneurship and new business growth in our state.
Our initial policy priorities include robust funding for the Missouri Technology Corporation and the creation of an angel tax credit to help increase access to capital for new businesses in Missouri.
What else should be on our agenda? Let us know what other issues NEXT Missouri should advocate for by completing our short survey.
District Updates

4239 Duncan Ave. - Wasabi Update

Wasabi’s last day of service in Cortex was November 30 in order for the building owners to prepare for a new tenant. We look forward to sharing some big restaurant news with you in the coming weeks! Until then, check out one of the many dining options throughout Cortex on our District Offerings page. Plus, keep your eye out for a second new restaurant, The Note, that will be opening its market café in 4220. More to come… stay tuned!


20 S Sarah Sign Installation

Cortex Exterior Signage will be installed at 20 South Sarah the week of 12/12. Please note that there may be some congestion around the intersection of Sarah and Forest Park Parkway as this work is installed.


Paver Repair Duncan Ave

Starting 12/11, weather permitting, Cortex will be repairing the permeable pavers along the south side of Duncan near Park Ave Coffee and the Historic Lobby Entrance. These parking spaces will be unavailable for the duration of work, but it should not impact the drive lanes or through traffic.


Ongoing Construction at Goodwill Building

Demolition is ongoing at the Goodwill building located at 4140 Forest Park Ave. Subscribe to Cortex's Notification System, RAVE, for more detailed updates on the project and it's impact on the District. Subscribe here.
