Welcome to the July 2024 edition of Cortex Connections! Below you will find updates about District events, amenities, offerings and operations.

Cortex is a proud participant in the Missouri Botanical Garden's Green Business Challenge. Each month the Green Team will feature a different focus on sustainability and ways to get involved. July is plastic free month - take the plastic free pledge here

Check out more opportunities in and around the District in July. Calling nonprofits for this month's SuperCollider on July 12. STL Vegan Market in 2 Acre Park on July 13. Enjoy an Ice Cream Social with District Colleagues on July 17 hosted by Cortex 1. July 17 Cortex's Square One is hosting a Head Shot Happy Hour. Learn about taking charge of your professional development at CIC's July Lunch and Learn on July 25. 
District Dining
We are proud to be home to many wonderful St. Louis gems! Taqueria Morita, Vicia, Saucy Porka, and newly opened Poké  Munch are a few that you should plan to visit in July. For more dining options check out the District Offerings on the Cortex website.

If you are part of an organization that hires for IT and cyber, we are asking you to join a campaign we helped create that aims to expand the pool of candidates for these jobs.

CIC Social Impact Cohort
Applications are open now for the CIC St. Louis Social Impact Cohort. Who should apply? The movers, shakers, and change-makers of STL! Is your organization working to make a positive change in STL, as it relates to social or environmental issues? We want you! Our ideal candidates are small organizations (both for profit and nonprofit) in the early stages of their mission-driven work. 
Applications Open - Square One Boot Camp
SQ1 Boot Camp is an in-depth 10-week, 50-hour program that combines formal instruction with hands-on learning, networking, and mentoring. The program’s structured curriculum seeks to instill in entrepreneurs the confidence and skills needed to succeed in high-growth industries. Sector experts lead the bioscience, information technology, and advanced manufacturing tracks, respectively.

Duncan Street Closure

Beginning July 8th through August, weather permitting, Duncan Ave will be closed for utility work between S. Sarah Street and the mid-block crossing in front of 4220 Duncan. Please reroute accordingly. Street lane closures on Forest Park Avenue will be scheduled following this work, look for further notifications. Metro Secure Platform

Work continues through the end of July, weather permitting. Fencing and turnstiles are being installed. Access to the Cortex Metrolink Platform will remain open throughout the duration of work. Access to the GRG Brickline will also remain accessible. Medical Campus Street Work Notification- Newstead

Please be aware that beginning the week of 07/08/24, Sachs Electric (ArchKey) will be working on the Medical Campus to conduct manhole audit activities on the 500 block of Newstead Ave.

Weather permitting, the planned duration of this work is from Monday, 07/08/24 through close of business, Friday, 07/12/24.

All work will be done during the day shift, beginning daily at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. each day. There are NO anticipated street closures involved, but an intermittent lane closure and traffic shifts will occur.

Adhering to Federal, State, and Local transportation regulations, the contractor will provide traffic and safety control to include flagmen, cones, plating ( where appropriate), and warning signs during all work times. Please notify your staff of this disruption and share this information with anyone you deem appropriate. Contact Greg Klaric 225.803.2142 with any questions.
