November  2012

Welcome to the SECOND edition of the Contractor Connection Consumer Services Monthly Update, BLUEPRINT.

Our first edition received a great deal of positive feedback. Thanks for your valuable input!

This month’s edition is all about estimating.  Are you struggling with closing your consumer service referral opportunities?  Is your team using Xactimate in the same way it’s used for restoration estimating?  If so, this could be your problem!  The typical consumer can become intimidated quickly by all of the line item detail and all of those extended prices.  Consider creating an Xactimate estimate that is simple to read and understand and even easier to explain.  Check out the list below to help guide you in the estimating process to ensure an estimate that helps you close the job.

Lastly, even though you are the only network contractor sent on a Contractor Connection consumer referral there is a good chance the consumer is still getting bids from other contractors – be competitive!

I hope you enjoy this second edition of BLUEPRINT.  Remember to look for a new update in your inbox each month with the latest news, trainings, statistics, helpful information and tools as well as highlights on who, in our network, is realizing the true potential of the Consumer Services Program. As always, our goal remains to help drive your business and maximize your success.

Feel free to provide feedback about this new tool and share any ideas or topics you would like to see featured.

Enjoy!

Last month we announced a very exciting relationship with Remodel Force and David Lupberger.

We have collaborated to bring to you a valuable 4-part online (webinar) training series. The training focuses on increasing your win-rates and building a stronger more efficient company to take full advantage of the consumer service leads.

Due to the great feedback from received from our Contractors that participated, we have released a second series for November.

Owners take note - your entire company can benefit from this great session for only $79.00!

Consumer Services
Estimating Checklist

  • A timely completed estimate will instantly give you an edge with the consumer
  • Combine or eliminate the minor detailed line items
  • Use a scope version of the estimate (without extended line item prices) but include a bottom line total price
  • Remember: use Xactimate as a selling tool. Ensure the consumer gets details that clearly outline the work to be completed.  This way, if changes are needed for budget purposes - you have an excellent platform from which to make adjustments
  • Create and use a custom consumer price list for your area
  • The estimate does not have to be the lowest - but it does have to be competitive

Myth #1:
"I have to use Xactimate for every estimate."

Fact #1:
It is not mandatory that you use Xactimate when creating a consumer service estimate,
HOWEVER, you must upload a one line Xactimate estimate along with a PDF or scanned copy of your preferred estimate version to XactAnalysis ysis.

Myth #2:
"I must make all the changes requested by the estimate review coordinator."

Fact #2:
In consumer services, estimate review requests are recommendations only.
They are not mandatory unless there is significant integrity issues identified in pricing.
