December  2012

Welcome to the THIRD edition of the Contractor Connection Consumer Services Monthly Update, BLUEPRINT.

This month’s edition focuses on the importance of COMMUNICATION with your customer.

There is no other single issue in any business that is more important than good COMMUNICATION and that rule certainly holds true for remodeling.  From the first interaction with the customer you have the unique opportunity to set the expectation for the project and process.  Are you going to over promise in the beginning to get the sale, only to have an unhappy and unsatisfied customer at completion?  Or are you going to set professional and realistic expectations for how that project will progress and at completion have a customer that will sing your praises to others?  The choice is yours…… make it a good one! See below for communication tips and tools as well as ways to cross check your communication path.

As always, we value your feedback and any ideas or topics you would like to see featured in BLUEPRINT.

Enjoy!

Communication Tips

In every remodeling job, you are not only selling a project, but you are selling an experience.

There are a lot of negative impressions homeowners have about the construction industry, so to be successful in the remodeling world, one of your biggest jobs is to guide homeowner through the remodeling process.

Successful contractors understand this, so they gear their efforts towards reducing homeowner fears, and dealing with the inevitable upsets.  Emotional homeowners are not the exception-they are the rule.
