In November 2012, the Leadership Foundation Board and team members embarked on a 5-year strategic visioning process—Vision 2017, which builds on our strong history of excellence and lays the foundation for greater service to the community. Vision 2017 sets our sights on raising the bar and securing our future growth and continued relevance. With our vision and mission at the forefront and our values as our guide, we aspire for Growth, Impact, Visibility and Engagement.  Vision 2017 identifies the following strategic priorities:

  • Growth: We will strengthen organizational capacity to support growth.
  • Impact: We will be thought leaders, leading conversations and convening individuals to implement solutions to critical challenges facing our community.
  • Visibility: We will increase awareness of the Leadership Foundation in the broader community and communicate the meaningful impact and civic engagement of alumni.
  • Engagement: We will create pathways for continued civic engagement and leadership development for alumni and new leaders.

We believe Vision 2017 will challenge us to continue to enhance our capacity to offer high-quality civic leadership programming that equips alums for impactful service to the community. I hope you join us on this journey, we will continue to keep you updated and we welcome your questions and feedback about Vision 2017. Click here for Vision 2017.

As we seek to lead conversations about key critical issues, we are excited to announce the launch of Colorado in Context, an effort to raise awareness and start conversations about key challenges facing our community. This month we launch a social media campaign aimed at increasing awareness of education and highlighting the work currently being done to tackle these issues. Follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter to join the conversation and share your thoughts and how you are inspired to action!

Be Inspired!

Last month we hosted our annual Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA) Summit at Metropolitan State University of Denver. More than 200 students participated in the Summit held on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Students were much impressed with the caliber of the speakers, the mix of information, and the opportunity to interact and network with fellow students and business leaders.

The Leadership Foundation, in partnership with the Boettcher Foundation, named Wayne Caudill II the 2013 CLA Student Leader of the Year. Caudill is a senior at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in the Chancellor’s Leadership Class. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Innovation degree, Business Admin with an emphasis in engineering and leadership minor. Read full press release.

Members of the Student Scholars Board reflect on their experience during the day:

"The CLA Summit was an amazing and inspiring experience. Being surrounded by student leaders across Colorado, that were so thrilled to pledge to impact their community, was monumental. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to be apart of this fantastic day!"

Nancy Pham, University of Colorado at Boulder President's Leadership Institute

"As a member of the Student Scholars Board, I helped to remove the constraints of everyday life and create a day of being committed to something bigger than oneself, and it felt great!"

Megan Gibson, Metropolitan State University of Denver Urban Leadership Program

As a "fun" element, we featured a photo booth and asked students to complete the phrases: “A leader is…” and “I pledge to…” Follow the link below to view the photo album.
