Dominican Sister of Adrian Suzanne Schreiber, OP, to Discuss German Impressionist who Responded to Injustice
Adrian Dominican Sister Suzanne Schreiber, OP, will give a talk tomorrow, July 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Common Room at the Weber Retreat and Conference Center. Sister Suzanne’s talk is the keynote for the Dominican Institute for the Arts (DIA) 2017 gathering (July 26-28). She will “speak on ‘The Art of Käthe Kollwitz’ (1867-1945), a German expressionist who used her art to respond to the social evils of her time.”
Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt Host Our Lady of Fatima 100th Anniversary Celebration
“On Thursday, July 13th, parishioners from St. Catharine of Alexandria in Blauvelt, area residents, and several Sisters of Saint Dominic gathered in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at St. Dominic Convent to honor Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th Anniversary of her third apparition in Fatima.”

The Big Sick is a romantic comedy about “the relationship between a Pakistani-American man and an Anglo American woman in Chicago.” The film was “written by Kumail Nanjiana, a Pakistani-American actor/comedian and his wife, Emily V. Gordon, based on their real life relationship.”

War for the Planet of the Apes is the final installment of the excellent trilogy which includes Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2014). The final segment takes off from the ending of Dawn.”
Dominican Sisters of Peace: Dominican Learning Center Expands Services in Columbus
The Dominican Learning Center (DLC), a founded ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, have partnered with St. Mary Magdalene/St. Agnes Parish to provide a unique adult ESL program. “What makes the program unique is the involvement of the Parish members. Working with the DLC, the Parish created a parish-based Adult ESL Class.”
Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa: ‘Ecology Retreat Based on Joanna Macy Teachings’
From Saturday, August 19 to Sunday, August 20 the Sinsinawa Mound will host an ecology retreat, “The Work that Reconnects,” led by Carolyn Griffeth. The retreat is based on the teachings of ecologist Joanna Macy.
