Dominican Sisters of Springfield Elect New Leadership
"On Sunday April 28 the Dominican Sisters of Springfield capped off a week of common study, prayer and contemplation—called a General Chapter—by electing to leadership the sisters who will animate their common life and mission for the coming five years." Sister Rebecca Ann Gemma, OP, was re-elected as prioress general, Sister Rose Miriam Schulte, OP, was elected as vicaress, and Sisters Mila Diaz Solano, OP, and Marie Michelle Hackett, OP, will serve as second and third councilors.
'Dominican Sisters of Hope Elect New Leadership Team'
The Dominican Sisters of Hope joyfully announce the election of their new leadership team. The election took place on Sunday afternoon, April 28, in Tarrytown, NY. Catherine (Cass) McDonnell, OP was elected Prioress, Patricia Magee, OP, ConstanceLynn Kelly, OP (currently on the leadership team), Margaret Anderson, OP (currently on the leadership team), and Elizabeth Menard, OP were elected councilors.
UN Update: 63rd Commission on the Status of Women

The report was prepared by Sister Judy Lu McDonnell, OP, and Lyn Kirkconnell (Co-Promoters of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation for the San Rafael and Mission San Jose Dominican Sisters).
'Dominican Sisters of Peace Aid Annunciation House'
While volunteering at Annunciation House ("a ministry of welcome and compassion to refugees in El Paso") earlier this year, Sister Barbara Kane, OP (Justice Promoter for the Dominican Sisters of Peace) was struck by the need that she saw while working there. And, Sister Joye Gros, OP, who ministered at the border in February, saw the same need. Working together, Sisters Barbara and Joye "put out a challenge to the Dominican Sisters of Peace and the Congregation’s Associates and friends" – to collect new clothing for family units seeking asylum that have entered the United States in the last 6 months.
Dominican Women Afire Gathering at Dominican College, Blauvelt, NY
"On May 24th 50 members of Dominican Women Afire are gathering at Dominican College, Blauvelt, NY for a 3-day conference. The gathering will be filled with moments of prayer and ritual, conversation and exploration, renewal of friendships and making new connections. Sparked by our shared commitment and creativity we hope to step into our future more fully."
Dominican Preaching Network: "Passing the Torch"
"The global Dominican Preaching Network invites Dominicans from the United States and Canada to a three-day colloquium on our Dominican evangelical charism. Anthony Gittens CSSp from CTU will speak on Evangelization in the Mission of Jesus and in Our Mission as Church, and Dr. Ann Garrido from Aquinas Institute of theology will facilitate."
