Dominican Sisters of Adrian: ‘80 People in Dominican Republic Served in Volunteer Dental Clinic’
On October 9, 2016, more than 80 people received free dental services in the Dominican Republic. Five Adrian Dominican sisters, along with seven volunteer dentists, a volunteer doctor, and thirteen associates, brought equipment and supplies from the city of Santiago in the middle of the Dominican Republic. The services were sponsored by the Associate Group Antorcha and organized by Dr. Fabiola Reyes, Associate.
Dominican Sister of Adrian, Jeanne O’Laughlin, O.P., Receives Community Service Award
On October 15, 2016, Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, O.P. was presented the Community Service Award during the Peace and Dialogue Dinner held in the Kovens Conference Center at Florida International University. Sister Jeanne received the award for her work with refugees during her years of service as President of Barry University from 1981 to 2004.
Siena Retreat Center: “Integral Ecology” – A Day of Reflection with Linda Gibler, O.P.
On November 12, 2016, the Siena Retreat Center, Racine, Wisconsin, will hold a day of reflection that will explore Pope Francis’ concept of “‘integral ecology’ and what relationality and responsibility ask of the human family today” with Dominican sister of Houston, Linda Gibler, O.P.
Master of the Order, Fr. Bruno Cadoré, O.P., Visits Province of Saint Martin de Porres
On October 24, 2016, the Master of the Order of Preachers, Fr. Bruno Cadoré, O.P., along with Fr. Orlando Rueda Acevedo, O.P. (Socius for the Apostolic Life) and Fr. Dominic Izzo, O.P. (Socius for the U.S.), visited the Dominican Family in San Antonio, Texas. The visit included vespers and reception held at Saint Stephen’s Parish.
Dominican Sisters of Sparkill: ‘Sr. Valorie Lordi – Keeping an Eye on Haiti Post-Hurricane’

Southern Dominican Friar’s Documentary, South Texas Gentle Men of Steel – Los Padres, Wins 11th Award
Southern Dominican Friar Armando P. Ibáñez, O.P.’s directed feature documentary was awarded the Platinum Award at the Oregon International Film Awards. “The documentary is about the end of an 82-year presence of Dominican friars in South Texas.”
Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa: Ecological Merton Retreat
Explore Thomas Merton’s life, writings, and environmental consciousness at the Ecological Merton Retreat being held at Sinsinawa Mount on Saturday, December 10, 2016. The retreat is part of Sinsinawa Mound’s ongoing environmental series, “Exploring a Contemplative Ecology.”
