‘Dominican Sisters of Peace Contributes to National Craft Exhibit to Aid Immigrants’
The Dominican Sisters of Peace created blankets for the Welcome Blanket Exhibit at Chicago’s SMART Museum. “In all, nine blankets and quilts were crafted by Sisters and Associates, and blessed in a special mass at the Motherhouse Chapel. The blankets will be . . . displayed as part of the Welcome Blanket exhibition through December 17. After the show's close, the blanket packages will be distributed to refugees and other immigrants through resettlement organizations.”
‘Empowerment and New Understanding Inside Mexico’
“Beginning on June 18, 2017 a group of Dominicans and a Franciscan Capuchin Brother entered an emersion experience Inside Mexico.” In this article, Brother Nicolas Reynolds, O.P. (Dominican Brother from the Province of St. Martin de Porres) and Sister Ana Gonzalez (Second year Novice with the Dominican Sisters of Peace) share some of their insights from the Inside Mexico experience.
Dominican Sisters of Adrian: ‘Founder of Farm Labor Union to Speak at Weber Center’
The Weber Center has an upcoming presentation on September 28, 2017, “Celebrating 50 Years of Struggle: The Story of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee.” The presenter is Baldemar Velasquez, founder and President of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) and he “will speak on his work organizing migrant farm workers as FLOC celebrates 50 years of social justice work.”
Dominican Sisters of Adrian Open Immigration Assistance Office
The Dominican Sisters of Adrian have a new service, the Immigration Assistance Office, to “help local immigrants in their efforts to obtain residency or citizenship status . . . While the office will assist immigrants facing any challenges, Sister Attracta [Kelly] sees special urgency in helping young immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and who are undocumented.”

Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt: ‘Friends of St. Dominic Hosts 25th Annual Golf Tournament’
On August 28, 2017, the 25th Annual Friends of St. Dominic Golf Tournament took place. The tournament helps raise money for Saint Dominic’s Home, “a nonprofit human services agency founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt.”
St. Rose Parish to Honor Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters for 100 Years of Service
“St. Rose Parish, Cuba City, Wis., will honor the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters for 100 years of service to the school and faith community at the 10 a.m. liturgy Sunday, Sept. 17 . . . One hundred thirty-five Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters have served St. Rose as teachers, principals and parish ministers, supporting the efforts of the parish throughout these 100 years. The school opened in the fall of 1916 with four sisters, a principal and three teachers.”
