Notes of WISDOM...for the week of: JULY 22nd, 2012

Life supports your need for...
P L A Y

When was the last time you purposely made PLAY your priority?

Summer may be the perfect reminder to slow down, allow yourself to flow through life rather than follow a specific routine... and make space to play.

Visit any park or beach on the summer weekends and you will see adults enjoying the simpliest of activities: picnics, swimming, water sports, relaxing in the shade under a tree - all of these remind us of our need to relax, be playful, and enjoy the simple experiences of life.

A recently observed a group of ten or more individuals playing in the lake: laughing together, passing and throwing a bright blue ball - they had somehow created their own secret game.  As I initially listened with my eyes closed, what caught my attention was the gigging, shrills of laughter, calling out to one another, and screams of glee that brought a warm smile to my face.  When I opened my eyes and looked in their direction - I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a group solely of ADULTS!! - and their game with the beach ball lasted for hours...with no break from the screams of playful delight!  To me this represents the purest form of how blissful play can be...and how much inner joy we naturally feel as a result of allowing our inner child to shine!

What would be some perfect experiences of play that you might lovingly plan for yourself this summer?  How can you 'insert moments of play' into your day at times that are perfect for you?

Play isn't something strictly for children.  Have you ever considered that perhaps you "learned" how to play early in life, so that you would always have this special 'gift' to appreciate?

Losing your ability to have fun and play causes you to lose touch with an important part of your childlike nature.  PLAY reminds us of the simple perfection of enjoying life...one of the many blessings we are given while a part of this world.

Let your memories remind you of some of your past joyful experiences of PLAY.

Make an inner committment to revisit these earlier playful activities or establish new forms of play in your life NOW.

 Namaste everyone!
