Your WISDOM Note for the week of:  SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2012

Living as HUMILITY

Humility as a virtue is expressed in the honest revealation of who you truly are.  Challenge yourself to live in self-honesty; openly showing your genuine self to others.  In humility, you require no effort to maintain a facade; nor needing to conceal parts of yourself.

As a character trait, humility allows others to know the real you.  Humility challenges you to be yourself with yourself and not pretend you are something you are not.

In humility our relationships are honest, authentic, and pure.  We can count on others to know our genuine and core self.  Being humble helps us grow in confidence since others show us that we are enough by liking and loving who we really are.

We make the mistake in assuming humility means that somehow we need to show others we are flawed.  In fact, our 'rawness' is perfection. Uncovering the mask we use to somehow convince others we are more and better, actually hides the perfection of what lies beneath; waiting to be discovered, nurtured, and revealed to the world.

Some practical thoughts for how you might practice the virtue of humility:

1.  Set aside your attempts to make yourself feel 'special' or 'important' through seeking acceptance and admiration of others.  Look to yourself first for building authentic self-esteem and self-confidence.

2. Let go of the need to personalize others' words and actions.  When you no longer make yourself a victim; feeling hurt, angered, or shameful because of something said or done by another, you no longer suffer.  In turn, there is no need to protect or defend yourself.

3.  Humility involves seeing the good in others, setting aside any need for competition.  It is a peaceful way of being - which frees you to remain humble instead of engaging in conflict or needing to be "right" or "better than" someone else.

Observe what happens when you deliberately live as humility.
Witness first hand the transformation in how you feel; how you experience situations differently; and how you experience the inner greatness of your beautiful nature ever so perfectly - as you are.
