Happy New Year from the Eastern Trail!

WE DID IT!!!!!

Thanks to the MaineDOT, PACTS, Town and Country Federal Credit Union, Bicycle Coalition of Maine and all of the corporations, foundations, towns, private donors, and volunteers who donated, we have hit our $4.1 million goal in our
“Close the Gap” campaign!!!
Pending regulatory approvals, construction is expected to begin in late 2018.
This by no way means we are done with our fundraising for this project – as the project moves forward, the $4.1 million estimate can change due to final design, permitting and construction. We will continue to march on in our fundraising efforts with various events in 2018 and by accepting donations as they come in.

So, what’s next for the Eastern Trail Development???

Heading South!
We are working with the towns of Kennebunk, Wells, North and South Berwick as we bring the trail south and are ramping up our campaign on this section. When complete, this will add 18+ miles of trail from Kennebunk through South Berwick!

We could use your help naming this campaign!

“Blazing the Trail South” is so ….ordinary…
We need a fun, catchy slogan to begin our fundraising efforts.
Please send your ideas to: by February 1, 2018
The slogan chosen will receive a $25 VISA Gift Card…

A message from our President, Deb Erickson-Irons:
2018 brings changes to the ETA Team!

Deb Erickson-Irons, ETA President
The Eastern Trail Alliance has been focusing on strengthening our organizational infrastructure so that we can speed progress on our big projects like Close the Gap and the continuation the Eastern Trail south of Kennebunk. An important part of that organizational focus has been on supporting our incredibly talented staff with the addition of staff time and some restructuring of tasks. Here is a brief overview of our staff. You can contact any of them at the ETA office 207-284-9260.
Carole Brush, ETA Executive Director
Carole Brush continues as our Executive Director. We are grateful for her consistent, experienced leadership and for such a talented and committed team. The reorganization and added staff support enables Carole to be out front and center working with our supporters and municipalities to add even more miles to our Eastern Trail.
Nancy Borg, Membership Coordinator
I am pleased to announce that Nancy Borg has been promoted to Membership Coordinator and the organizer of the Maine Lighthouse Ride. Nancy has bountiful positive energy and ideas and has shared her passion for the Eastern Trail since being hired in 2015 after volunteering for ETA for a year.
Jen Steele Skillings, Volunteer/Event Coordinator
We are also very excited to welcome Jen Steele Skillings as our part time Volunteer and Event Coordinator. Jen has extensive previous fundraising experience which shone last year when she assisted with the Maine Lighthouse Ride.
Larry Glantz, Webmaster
Larry Glantz, the “man behind the scenes,” our Webmaster, will continue to support the team and our website. We are grateful for the insightful ideas that Larry brings to our ETA promotion!
