We are Blazing the Trail South – Closing the Gaps – Heading Over the River and Through the Woods

Happy New Year and welcome to a new decade!
Over the past ten years, we doubled the off-road mileage of the Eastern Trail. Pretty amazing progress! We are thrilled to say one-third of the off-road miles are now complete and another third is in various stages of development. Go here for more information.

As we continue to work “behind the scenes” to move these trail development projects forward, we are focusing on enhancing and enjoying the 22 off-road miles. If you are reading this, you already realize the benefits of this amazing resource. Here are some ideas we are working on:

Who would think that putting miles of an off-road linear park down would span years of planning, fundraising, THEN years for design, permitting and finally construction?
Thanks for imagining the Eastern Trail with us and for making the vision a reality, one mile at a time.
See you on the trail!

Welcome, Garett Buzak
FROM THE INTERN’S CORNER!

Garett Buzak
Hello everyone! My name is Garett. I am currently a senior at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. At UNE, I am pursuing a major in Environmental Studies and minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Throughout my experiences, coursework, and past internships, I have become especially interested in the planning, mapping, and management of lands, trails, and other open spaces. This is what lead me to reach out to the Eastern Trail Alliance! Growing up, nearly all my time was spent outdoors and today some of my favorite activities involve the use of trails. When I am not in the classroom or on the lacrosse field, you can find me biking (road/mountain), trail running, hiking, or skiing in the winter. I am super excited for my internship with ETA and to learn from the staff, board, and members the organization withholds!

There is no doubt the Eastern Trail is a wonderful resource in all our lives – but we need your support. Becoming a member of the ETA not only supports this vision, but also helps with the construction of future miles, maintenance, safety, and enjoyment for generations to come.
For the price of a good meal, or a family going to a movie, your membership can help us achieve our goal of 65 miles of off road trail.
