“The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” is the true story of a poor black tobacco farmer whose cells — taken without her knowledge in 1951 — have been used over the past 60-plus years in many scientific discoveries worldwide. Members of the Lacks family will join us to discuss the book.

Free and open to the public.


An Evening with "Between the Lines"

7 p.m., Thurs., April 24 | Black Box Theatre

Edmonds CC's literary and arts magazine, "Between the Lines," publishes quality short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual artwork from writers and artists from the college and community. They will share their own works in this unique spoken word visual concert celebrating the release of the 2013 publication. Free and open to the public.

Celebration of Food Festival

9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sun., May 18 | Lynnwood Convention Center

The Celebration of Food Festival will highlight “real food” in an innovative way to our community: by bringing together people who are passionate about sustainable, local, organic, and wholesome (SLOW) food. Farmers, ranchers, culinary professionals, high school and college students, 4-H youth, and innovative business owners will offer displays, samples, and activities for community members to enjoy.


Edmonds Unplugged

Courtney Marie Andrews8 p.m., Fri., April 25 | Black Box Theatre

Headlining the annual Edmonds Unplugged is Seattle resident Courtney Marie Andrews, whose new album, “On My Page,” is produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Ra Ra Riot, Blonde Redhead). Opening the show is Seattle rock band Dismal Tide, which has a album out titled “The Breaks.”

Bring a cover letter and resume and you'll be able to:

  • learn about and apply for the program,
  • take the online assessment test, and
  • potentially be admitted into the program that evening.

In the PACE-IT program, you'll get free tuition and work at your own pace to earn an IT certificate online. You’ll only pay for books, college enrollment fees, and any certification exam fees. If you can’t attend in person, check out the Skype Information Session 6-7 p.m., Thurs., May 8.
