Final Days to Register for Winter Quarter Classes!

Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration
Jan. 15 | 12:30 and 7 p.m. | Black Box Theatre
Join us for a community celebration commemorating Dr. King. Our keynote speaker, Emory Douglas, will share an inspirational message. He is an artist and was Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party. Douglas’ striking collages of photographs and his own drawings create some of the most iconic images of the civil rights movement. Both the afternoon and evening events are free and open to the public. Douglas will also lead an interactive art session from 3-5 p.m. in Meadowdale Hall.
Art Gallery Reception with the artists of “Please Touch”
Jan. 15 | 12:30 and 7 p.m. | Black Box Theatre
“Please Touch” is an interactive and collaborative exhibit that explores the themes of air, earth, the human form and sound through a variety of media in an experiential art installation that focuses on touch, sound, and motion. This exhibit invites children and adults who want to discover more about the world to “Please Touch.” The exhibit is sponsored by the college's library, the Visual Arts department, and the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership and runs Jan. 5-March 13.
Leadership Is You! Conference

Get the skills necessary to develop and enhance your leadership abilities at this fifth annual leadership conference. All Edmonds CC students are welcome, whether you have previous leadership experience or not. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear students from Scriber Lake High School talk about their book, “You’ve Got it all Wrong” during a panel discussion at dinner. A $5 confirmation fee secures your spot. Make sure to register early because space is limited!
Scholarship Opportunity
Deadline: Jan. 30 | 4 p.m.
The Edmonds Community College Foundation sponsors two $1,300 scholarships and several smaller scholarships which will be awarded in February 2015 for spring quarter tuition. To apply for a scholarship, Edmonds CC students must have read the book “You've Got It All Wrong,” and then create a project addressing any of the key themes of the book. Speakers Bureau Lecture: Eric Davis

Edmonds CC partners with Humanities Washington to bring sociology instructor Eric Davis to speak to students about “Rap 101: The Message behind the Music.” Eric Davis, also known as "Professor E," will explore contemporary popular culture, diversity issues, and social justice through the lyrics of rap and hip hop. Davis teaches sociology at Bellevue College and is a member of the UW consulting alliance.

Save the date for our spring musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”
May 14-17 | 2 and 7:30 p.m. | Black Box Theatre

One of the most crowd-pleasing Tony Award winning musical comedies of all time. Follow six socially awkward youngsters on their hilarious journey to realize their dream — to become a spelling bee champion! [Mild adult humor.] Presented by Edmonds CC Music department and the Black Box Theatre. Tickets: $15.
Program in the Spotlight: Sustainable Agriculture Education (SAgE)


Study and practice fundamental and emerging sustainability approaches to urban agriculture. Get started in winter quarter on one of the new Urban Agriculture certificates! Two are short certificates (28-30 credits) and the third, Urban Agriculture Systems, combines the other two.

The entire curriculum occurs over the course of three quarters: winter, spring, and summer. Students may obtain any one certificate, or all of them, in just three quarters, depending upon whether attending part- or full-time. Find out more.
