Marijuana Business License and Law is a one-credit, one-day seminar offered through the Edmonds CC Paralegal program. The seminar is a legal look inside Washington’s emerging marijuana business industry. Topics will include the licensing process, contract law issues, medicinal versus recreational, state versus federal, packaging, processing, taxation, edibles, oils, limits on advertising, and child protection. This is the first class of its kind for the public for undergraduate credit. The seminar will be taught by Moe Spencer, principle attorney of Spencer Palace Law Office in Edmonds. Spencer has extensive experience in both federal and state courts and now focuses on representing marijuana growers and processors.

Global Leadership Summit in South Africa
Edmonds CC has been invited to send seven students to the Global Leadership Summit conference at the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The international conference, will be an exchange of ideas and experiences regarding diversity, racism, racial integration, social justice, and reconciliation within the higher education system. International delegates from institutions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia will have an opportunity to understand South African society, and how university students are being looked to as the country’s future leaders. Tonya Drake, Vice President of College Relations and Advancement and Gem Baldwin, Social Science instructor, will be presenting at the summit. Marisa DuBois, Director of English as a Second Language Learning will be attending the summit with the students. It is a unique opportunity for our college to collaborate on a global level.

Program in the Spotlight: Housing

Rainier Place Student Housing

Edmonds CC is a unique community college because we have a residence hall located on our campus, Rainier Place. Any student can choose to live in our residence hall which:

  • Offers a safe and clean living environment;
  • Helps provide a strong community living experience;
  • Provides co-curricular experiences to augment student learning;
  • Challenges students in the areas of personal wellness, integrity, and global citizenship; and
  • Educates students on intercultural communication and understanding.

We offer other housing options including Sophie Court for older students and families, or Spencer Court, which is a bus ride away from campus. There are opportunities for international students in our Homestay program where they can create friendships that last a lifetime.

Would you like to host an international student? Check out information for host families.

STEM graphic

Edmonds CC is providing more opportunities for STEM students. The college is working to increase the number of students studying science by reaching out to students who — without support — won’t enter college, won’t study math or science, and won’t complete a degree. These include many women, underrepresented minorities, low-income, and first-generation college students. These students can receive support for their studies through programs at the college like MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement), RiSE (Relationships in Science Education) and others.
