On Feb. 23, Edmonds Community College Foundation, which supports the success of our students, hosted its 27th annual “A Vintage Evening Dinner and Auction.” Chef Thierry Rautureau orchestrated the menu prepared by the college’s culinary arts students. Guests sipped, savored, and supported throughout the evening, ultimately raising more than $223,000, beating last year’s amount of $190,000. Brown Bag lecture series
Join us for spring lectures at the Black Box Theatre:

  • April 11: Earth Month speaker Peter Ward, 12:30 p.m. Ward, a paleontologist and professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Washington, specializes in the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event (the one that killed the dinosaurs) and mass extinctions in general.
  • April 24: National Poetry Month speaker Chas Jackson, 12:30 p.m. Jackson writes for the award-winning web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.” Chas began performing poetry as a dare and hasn’t stopped since. He believes that poetry is the only way you can touch someone’s heart without his or her permission.
  • May 8: Filmmaker Eliaichi Kimaro, 12:30 p.m. A first-generation American goes in search of her identity. She discovers that the cycle of gender violence she’s been working hard to break in the U.S. is part of her history and culture on another continent. Kimaro raises questions about the cultures we inherit and what we choose to pass down. She reveals how a bearing witness can break silences that have lasted lifetimes.
