Come celebrate commUNITY with us in April. Join us and explore some exciting and unique opportunities. All events are free and open to the public.

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 19, Woodway Hall 202 Career Fair: meet with more than 50 local employers hiring for full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions.
  • 6 p.m., April 20, Black Box Theatre – Film screening and discussion of “Big Dream,” a documentary on women in STEM careers.
  • 6-9 p.m., April 26, Woodway Hall 202!Bienvenidos al College! Join us for a Latino family night and explore opportunities with campus tours, information sessions, refreshments, and live music with the college’s Salsa band.
  • 2:30 and 7 p.m., April 27, Black Box TheatreCommunity Read: Join us to discuss the college’s Community Read book, “Early Warming: Crisis and Response in the Climate-Changed North” with author Nancy Lord.
  • 3-5 p.m., April 28, Rainier Place – BBQ and Housing Open House! Enjoy some BBQ as you learn about housing options. Tour a student apartment and meet students who live in Rainier Place.
  • 5-8 p.m., April 28, Lobby of Mountlake Terrace Hall and Lynnwood Hall Open House: learn how you can define your success while you explore all your options. Enjoy some refreshments while you browse department resource tables. You can also attend information sessions on different topics such as career training programs, transfer options, and College Bound.
Edmonds CC mathematics student is top scholar
Soohwan Jung

Edmonds CC student Soohwan Jung will be recognized for his scholastic achievement and community and college service at a ceremony at noon, March 24 at South Puget Sound Community College, in Olympia. Governor Jay Inslee will be the keynote speaker at the event.

Representing Edmonds CC, Soohwan — who holds a 4.0 GPA and serves on the student government board — is among 66 of the state’s top scholars, representing 34 community and technical colleges in Washington state, who will receive recognition as members of the All-Washington Academic Team.

Edmonds Community College Foundation board members Steve Pennington and Dr. Bill Keppler received the Outstanding Community Advocate Award at Verdant Health Commission’s Healthier Community Conference on Mon., Feb. 29.

Pennington, a retired Boeing executive, and Keppler, a former civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army, served as co-chairs on the Foundation’s Boots to Books and Beyond Campaign raising $1 million to support student veterans and their families at Edmonds CC.

Get money for college

Apply for the annual Edmonds CC Foundation scholarships. Deadline is April 18. Submit the Spring Quarter Complete the Dream scholarships application by 2 p.m., April 4.

Count me in! Community Preparedness Town Hall Meeting

When disaster strikes, will you be ready? You’re invited to learn about disaster preparedness from first responders and other experts at a free presentation. Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., March 15 in Woodway Hall 202, as we begin a conversation about preparing for a disaster. The keynote speaker is Dr. Brian Atwater, a U.S. Geological Survey scientist based at the University of Washington. The college is a co-sponsor along with the Snohomish Co. Fire District, Lynnwood Fire Department, and the My Neighborhood News Network.

Licensed Practical Nursing Program information sessions
Nurses

The Licensed Practical Nursing Program is designed for students who hold a valid CNA license in Washington state and are currently working in a direct patient care profession such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, or surgical technician. Take the next step in your career! Apply by 5 p.m., June 17 to start in the fall. The financial aid deadline is July 15.

Program in the spotlight: Early Childhood Education

Teachers play an important role in the lives of children and their families in our community. Early childhood educators support the growth and development of children from birth to age eight in a variety of early learning settings that include preschools, center-based and home-based child care programs, Head Start, ECEAP, infant and toddler learning environments, and school-age classes.

Gain the skills and knowledge in this growing field that applies professionally based best practices to quality early experiences of young children. Join this challenging and rewarding field as an educator, advocate, and leader in the present and future success of children.
