New website

This astounding exhibit by Phil Eidenberg-Noppe depicts the power of nature through a series of photographs ranging from wide-angle panoramic views of a dramatically altered landscape to single-frame details documenting the disposition of personal effects in the aftermath of the 2014 Oso Landslide. Eidenberg-Noppe, a hydrologist and photographer, has also prepared a companion online essay at medium.com/@phileidenbergnoppe that encourages thought and understanding of how we individually and collectively deal with risk, and what happens to us when the unimaginable becomes real.

Edmonds CC welcomes students as part of the Northwest Community College Initiative

Edmonds CC is proud to host 19 students as part of the Northwest Community College Initiative (NWCCI) program this year. The NWCCI is a cultural exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program brings international students from underserved communities in 16 developing countries to spend an academic year at one of three Washington state community colleges: Edmonds CC, Whatcom Community College, and Pierce College.

Students receive a full-ride scholarship to cover the costs of their tuition, housing, transportation, and other living expenses. Through the program, students earn a professional or technical certificate in fields such as business, information technology, hospitality and tourism, media, and early childhood education. They also complete an internship of at least 60 hours in their field of study and participate in cultural activities designed to introduce them to U.S. society and business practices.

Since it started in 2009, the NWCCI program has hosted 270 students from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote D'Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, Panama, South Africa, and Turkey.

NWCCI's goal is to strengthen other societies by developing capable young professionals who graduate from the program having acquired professional skills, leadership abilities, and an understanding of U.S. society, democracy, and culture.

Program in the spotlight: STEM

STEM graphic

Edmonds CC is providing more opportunities for STEM students. The college is working to increase the number of students studying science by reaching out to students who — without support — won’t enter college, won’t study math or science, and won’t complete a degree. These include many women, underrepresented minorities, low-income, and first-generation college students. These students can receive support for their studies through programs like MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement), RiSE (Relationships in Science Education), and others.

STEM programs at Edmonds CC include:

New Alumni Association

Attention Edmonds CC alumni! The college’s Foundation has launched a brand new Alumni Association and we hope you’ll join. The benefits include:

  • staying connected to the college,
  • discounts at the bookstore,
  • invitations to alumni networking events, and
  • supporting the college and future alumni.
