Dear E4FC Friend,

Do you have questions about the sanctuary schools/safe zone movement?

Would you like to obtain information about the legal basis for supporting undocumented students at your high school, college or university?

Are you wondering how you can be most effective in protecting undocumented students and other vulnerable student populations at your school in these tumultuous times?

JOIN E4FC’s "Understanding the Sanctuary School/Safe Zone Movement" Webinar on March 29th at 11am PST/2pm EST. RSVP here!

This webinar will introduce content from our new guide,  Understanding the Sanctuary School/Safe Zone Movement: A Quick Guide for Educators, which provides an overview of the key protections educators should be fighting for, an explanation about why sanctuary school and safe zones are vital at this time, legal protections that are already in place through FERPA and the U.S. Constitution, as well as specific suggestions about how to get started.

We will have three guest speakers during our webinar:

  • Tanya Broder, Senior Staff Attorney at National Immigration Law Center (NILC), will break down the legal basis schools can use to argue for sanctuary and safe zone policies.
  • Jennifer Spindler, co-author of “Protecting Undocumented Children in Schools (Call-to Action)”, will speak about how K-12 educators can shield children from the potential effects of immigration enforcement operations in school.
  • Matt Alexander, Principal at June Jordan High School, will discuss how his students have organized with the San Francisco School Board to pass a resolution in support of undocumented students; he will also discuss how June Jordan is creating policies that ensure these protections are put in place.

We hope you join our webinar to learn more about what you and your high school, college or university can do to protect undocumented students.
