The FNHA/FNHC/FNHDA Urge Nations to Protect Each Other by Cancelling or Postponing Gatherings and Ceremonies |
The FNHA, the FNHC and the FNHDA wish to remind communities that they can help stop the spread of COVID-19 by cancelling or postponing large community gatherings, including funerals. We do not make these recommendations lightly and acknowledge and understand the significance of cultural gatherings for First Nations communities, and the sacrifices this entails. The Public Health orders from Dr. Bonnie Henry, our Provincial Health Officer (PHO), regarding gatherings continue to apply to all gatherings including funerals and memorials.

As the days get shorter, many of us look forward to autumn holidays and festivities. With COVID-19 still a concern across the province, there are some things you can consider to help make celebrations safer for everyone.
To stay safer when you are getting together, try to keep lots of physical distance between people and reduce the time you spend together in person.
Celebrate less socially and trick-or-treat locally this Halloween!
Tips from BCCDC:
- Skip Halloween parties this year
- Trick or treating in small groups can be a safe and a fun activity
- Get creative in making space when handing out treats

Guidance for Funerals and Memorial Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic |
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to keep our distance from others. We have also had to limit the number of people who can get together. This has made it difficult to come together in-person to grieve.
Funerals and memorial services for someone who has died can happen in a safe way. You can use the following guidance to organize and safely hold a funeral or memorial service
