April One Thing Ministry: Dr. Denise Young

Dr. Young gives medical care to under served new mothers and families. Last year your donations supported more than 80 families meeting basic needs. The most requested items are: Diapers (sizes NB-3), Wipes, and gently used baby items including clothing.

When Kevin White was on staff, he took on the volunteer job of recycling the paper products to the McIntire Recycling Center. We are now looking for someone to fill that position! Please let Liz McWilliams office@cvillefirstumc.org know if you are interested.

Dear Charlottesville First United Methodist Family,

I wanted to reach out and express my deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love and support I've received following the fire at my home. In a moment that felt overwhelming and uncertain, the kindness of this community provided me with a much-needed sense of peace and stability.

I feel truly blessed for this congregation that reflects such genuine compassion and grace. While I still have a journey ahead of me, I move forward with a full heart, knowing l am not walking this path alone.

With sincere appreciation and love,

Sidney Witry

RECYCLE!! We all know that we aren't supposed to throw batteries in the trash, but what should we do with them? Many places, like Batteries + and Best Buy, will only take rechargeable batteries but Staples will recycle regular ones for free.

Control Alt Recycle in Cville will take computers, old hard drives, Garmin GPS, and things like copiers for free.  For a fee, they will take your flat screen TVs.

Ridwell and Terracycle charge a fee but you can mail in wrappers and other plastics that are hard to recycle.

We are Caring for God's Creation in any way we can!

Wild Church: Sacred Way
Wednesday, April 22nd at Noon

Join us for a fun 3-mile hike around Emmet St. in Charlottesville to celebrate Earth Day!

We’ll start with an optional early lunch at the original Bodo’s location at 12 noon, or you can meet up in the parking lot behind the English Inn (2000 Morton Dr.) for the 1 pm hike.

The trail will take us from the tall trees and frisbee golf course along Meadow Creek across 29 to the Rivanna Trail System behind North Grounds. Just a heads-up, there will be some hills and uneven footing, including a stream crossing (with very large stones to help you out!).
