Realm 
 

If you cannot access your Realm account and need to change your password, please send an email to Dana Palmer at financialsect@cvillefirstumc.org.  You can still use the automated  password change request through Realm, but alternately Dana can send you the information.

 

Once you know your password, you can set up your account for text sign-in!   Signing in by text involves sending a unique code to your registered mobile number. You must register your number ONCE to link it with your account’s email address. After registration, you can quickly signin using a code sent via text to your phone or tablet.

  1. Open the app/browser page
  2. At the bottom, you will see ‘Send a one-time code to login’
  3. Click ‘Register/Update Mobile Number’ then ‘continue’
  4. Enter your email and password
  5. Enter your Country Code (USA) and phone number
  6. Enter the code that is sent to you and click ‘verify’ and ‘continue’

You can now login using a text code rather than your password!

 

April One Thing Ministry: Dr. Denise Young

 

Dr. Young gives medical care to under served new mothers and families. Last year your donations supported more than 80 families meeting basic needs. The most requested items are: Diapers (sizes NB-3), Wipes, and gently used baby items including clothing.

The Charlottesville Clergy Collective continues to hold vigil each week for those impacted by Policy Violence: direct ICE raids against our neighbors as well as the sometimes quiet violence that occurs due to cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, health care and housing assistance.

 

Special Charge Conference
Monday, April 20th at 7:00pm

A Special Charge Conference of Charlottesville First United Methodist Church has been authorized and called for Monday, April 20 at 7:00 PM, via Zoom.

 

The purpose of this meeting is to act on a single item of business: approval of the incorporation of Charlottesville First UMC as a Virginia non-stock corporation, a step recommended by the Bishop and Cabinet for all unincorporated United Methodist congregations in Virginia.

 

Rev. Alex Joyner has been authorized by the District Superintendent to preside at this Charge Conference in accordance with The Book of Discipline (¶246.4,5).

All members of the Charge Conference (elected officers and retired clergy) are encouraged to attend.

Finance Talk and Lunch at Aldersgate
Tuesday, April 21st at 12:30pm

Next month’s Friendship Lunch on Tuesday, April 21, at 12:30 PM at Aldersgate UMC, 1500 Rio Rd E, will feature Rev. Chris Allen from United Methodist Development (UMDEVCO).

Rev. Allen will offer an inspirational and informational talk on personal finances, and will stay afterward to speak with anyone interested in learning more about Planned Giving, Investing, and the work of UMDEVCO.
Lunch is catered by Wood Grill Buffet. A contribution of $12.50 per person is appreciated — just place it in the envelope you’ll find on the table.

On Thursday, April 23rd at 7 PM, three of our own will represent Charlottesville First UMC at Wordplay, the annual spelling bee fundraiser for Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle. Pastor Alex, Dubie Dubendorfer, and Alyssa Marlowe will compete as the Saints of Charlottesville First at the Paramount Theater — and they need your cheers!

Raising Courageous Children in an Anxious World
Thursday, April 23 from 6-7:15pm

The panel will be talking about the rising prevalence of anxiety, particularly focusing on younger children, and offering some tools for families to counteract these trends. It will be information coming from the Waldorf approach to education, but shared in a way that is accessible at home.


It is free admission, however we are requesting advance registration online at cwaldorf.org/tomtom.

Join the Virginia Baptist Women's Chorale in celebration of 50 years of Praise. The concert will be held at Belmont Baptist Church at 830 Monticello Avenue. The mother of Jon Buckner, a member of our AV Staff, was a founding member of this group.

Join us for our 2nd annual Soup, Songs & Solidarity Celebration. Enjoy an evening of homemade soups, fresh bread, desserts, live music from The Lua Project and powerful stories - all in support of Sin Barreras!

 

This event isn't all about fundraising - it's about bringing Charlottesville together, creating change and celebarting our shared humanity.
