Our One Thing Ministry for the month of February is our neighbor, The Barrett Early Learning Center on Fifth Street. This sweet institution is Virginia's oldest continuously operating childcare center, founded in 1935. Listed below are some of the items needed:

Wild Church Hike: Darden Towe
Saturday, February 14th at noon
Join us for our upcoming Sacred Way, Wild Church Hike at Darden Towe Park on Saturday, February 14th, at 12 pm. We'll meet in the parking lot near the river for a 2.5-mile walk primarily along the Rivanna River.
After the hike, an optional lunch spot will be announced later. Hope to see you there!

Ash Wednesday Services
Wednesday, February 18th at noon and 7:30pm
On Ash Wednesday, we will gather to begin the season of Lent.
At noon, join us at Market Street Park. Then at 7:30pm, we will gather with some of our PACEM guests in the chapel for an evening service.

Sacred Way: Urban Hike
Wednesday, February 18th at 1pm
Celebrate local history with a special 2-mile urban hike through Charlottesville. We’ll kick things off with a brief introduction from the Heritage Center staff before setting out on a sidewalk route to visit significant African-American landmarks.
The Details:
- Route: 2 miles (all urban/sidewalks)
- Start/End: Jefferson School
- The Finish: We’ll wrap up with a warm cup of cocoa at Gearharts Fine Chocolates.

Community Dinner Ministry
Wednesday, February 18th at 6:00pm
Community Dinner" is a new Gathering Table where we hope to share God's love with our neighbors, especially those with food insecurity, through a shared meal, fellowship, and conversation.
Our next dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th at 6 pm. Please consider signing up here to prepare food to share.
You can also drop off items for our Blessing Box/Table such as shelf stable foods, hygiene products, or gently used shoes.
If you know or meet someone that could use a free meal in a supportive environment, pick up an invitation in our Welcome Center to share with them. Contact Mary Hoggard at 615-785-1168 to learn more.

The Faithful Resistance
Wednesday, February 25th
The Faithful Resistance: A Public Witness for Immigrant Justice is happening in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Bishop Sue and the Cabinet invite you to join us for an upcoming ecumenical gathering and peaceful march calling for the humane treatment of immigrants. The event will take place in Washington, DC on Wednesday, February 25 and opens at 10 a.m. with worship at Capitol Hill UMC (421 Seward Square SE, Washington, DC, 20003).
A prayerful march to the U.S. Capitol will follow, accompanied by congressional visits in the afternoon for those interested in attending. This is a powerful opportunity to show solidarity for immigrants and call upon Christians everywhere to live out Christ’s call on all of us to resist evil, oppression and injustice in whatever forms they present. Resisting Racial Injustice In the Way of Jesus Conference
Saturday, February 28th
On Saturday, February 28, the Racial Justice Network (RJN) will host the Resisting Racial Injustice in the Way of Jesus Conference at Belmont UMC in Richmond.
RJN brings together people from diverse churches to build cross-racial relationships and work toward racial justice.
The keynote speaker is Rev. Ben Campbell, Episcopal priest, civil rights activist, founder of Richmond Hill, and author of
Richmond’s Unhealed History.
The conference includes three workshops on conversation, nonviolent action, and spiritual formation as resistance.

Note: This event will take place at Charlottesville First United Methodist Church.
Join us for the this year's Women's Retreat with others from across the Charlottesville area on Saturday, March 21 from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
The theme this year is based on Psalm 42, "Lord We Need You" and we hope this will be a time of encouragement, renewal and equipping for our days. You can plan to participate for the whole day or for just part of the day.

IMPACT's Nehemiah Action

Are you concerned about neighborhood safety, affordable housing, and reliable public transit for those in our local community who need it most? Join us at IMPACT's upcoming Nehemiah Action assembly.Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30pm at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center.
IMPACT is an interfaith collaborative of over 50 local congregations that works on securing improvements in these social justice issues here in our community. The Nehemiah Action is a spirited and impactful meeting where we ask our local elected officials to commit to improvements in the lives of those who rely on public transit and who are in dire need of affordable housing in safe neighborhoods.
All are welcome to attend, and your presence is important! Help us demand impactful action from our community leaders.
