Loaves & Fishes Update:
In June, we served:
- 3,212 households/12,816 individuals
- 35% aged 0-18; 53% aged 19-59; 12% aged 60+
- That is an average of 189 households/753 people receiving groceries on each of the 17 distribution days in June.
- Roughly 7% of households were first-time visitors last month, and approximately 38% of our clients visited us twice during the month.
- The pantry hosted 625 volunteer shifts, totaling 1,393 service hours. Thank you, volunteers!

Habitat for Humanity Build Day

We are building new homes in Southwood Village and need a few more bodies to help. Our summer schedule begins at 7:45am and ends at 2:30pm. Lunch is provided at 11:30pm.

The Charlottesville Clergy Collective continues to hold vigil each week for those impacted by Policy Violence: direct ICE raids against our neighbors as well as the sometimes quiet violence that occurs due to cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, health care and housing assistance.

The Barber of Seville Kidfest
Tuesday, July 14th from 12:30-2:30pm
KidFest will take place at the Paramount Theater. Shows include orchestra, sets, costumes, and a chance to meet an artist! Each child takes home a goody bag! KidsFest is a preview of Act I of
The Barber of Seville. This event is intended for children in grades K-12.
Charlottesville Opera is thrilled to provide KidsFest as a FREE event for our community. We aim to serve as many students as possible through this program. All groups MUST have an adult chaperone. Please try to be as accurate as possible in your student and chaperone count.

Sacred Way: Wild Church
Wednesday, July 15, 2026
Join us on Wednesday, July 15, at 6:30 PM for a sunset walk at Riverview Park (1909 Chesapeake St). We will walk a flat, paved portion of the Rivanna Trail.
This out-and-back trail lets you decide your own pace and distance as we connect with the Divine in creation and community.
All ages are welcome. Invite your friends to share in this easy, accessible evening stroll. Afterward, we will gather for ice cream and fellowship at SugarBear Gourmet Ice Cream (1522 E High St).

Trip to Washington Cathedral
Wednesday, July 29, 2026
Rev. Julie Nitzsche (Aldersgate UMC) and Rev. Alex Joyner (Charlottesville First UMC) are organizing a joint youth and adult trip to the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday, July 29.
We'll meet at the Aldersgate parking lot at 8:30am, drive to the Metro, and ride in to the city together. Once there, we'll worship together at Holy Eucharist, share lunch as a group, and take a guided Spotlight Tour of the Cathedral (ticket included).
Cost is $25 per person, which covers your tour ticket. Space is limited, and we may need additional drivers — let us know if you're able to help.
