Midweek Update: June 25, 2025
Announcements
DID YOU KNOW?

In May, 2011 “The Prodigal Son” stained glass memorial window which is now part of the church Welcome Center was dedicated. Commissioned by Bill Dorsey, in memory of he daughter, it was designed and created by CFUMC member, Mark. S. Chapman, owner of Art Glass Windows. Mark also created the backdrop for our dramatic presentation of “The Last Supper".

We’re excited to announce that we will be celebrating the 100 year birthday of Charlottesville UMC and our 2025 Consecration Sunday on the same day in early November!

We are collecting stories to share around these celebrations. Do you have a story to share? Contact Rex at rexhickman@comcast.net or Carolyn at carolynmcgee@cvillefirstumc.org. Thank you!!

Traveling Tiny Jesus

Pick up a tiny Jesus or two today on your way out of worship and take Him with you as you travel through life! If you go on vacation, place Him in your photo! Let us see the places you visit! (Truthfully, don’t we always want to have Jesus by our side?)

Share your photos with Carolyn and we will share them here!

Wild Church

Are you seeking a welcoming community to connect with in nature?

Join us on the Sacred Way, where we come together to worship and celebrate the Divine amidst the beauty of the outdoors. We meet outside several times a month to hike together.

Each gathering begins with a brief reflection and prayer before we embark on our holy hikes. All ages are invited to participate.

Please Pray for Our ASP Team

Please pray for our ASP Team who are currently in Wise County, VA.

For a list of names to pray for, contact connect@cvillefirstumc.org or pick up the list in the art gallery on Sunday. Thank you for your cards, prayers, and financial gifts for our Summer Youth Mission Trip.

Please save the date: Sunday, June 29th. We will welcome them back during our 10 am worship service to hear a presentation about their trip and celebrate their return.

The One Thing Ministry for June will benefit our very own Vacation Bible School! Take a tab off of the bulletin board in the Welcome Center and go shopping! Want us to do the shopping for you? Simply go on REALM and make your donation there or put VBS in the memo line of your check. Thank you in advance!

SUMMER BREAK IS HERE! Don’t forget about Pack to School. We will again provide backpacks filled with supplies to benefit local schools. Be on the lookout for more information in July for One thing Ministry. Monetary donations are always welcome (please note “Pack to School” if writing a check or giving online.) However, the goal for this year is to collect as many school supplies as possible.  Questions or would you like to help with deliveries? Email Anika Winterhoff at anikamw77@outlook.com

New or Returning College Students

If you are a college student, or have a college student in your family, who would enjoy receiving encouragement from the church while away at school, please let us know. The Caring Letter Writers of Charlottesville First Church send monthly notes to our college students with words of support to uplift them while away from home from September through May. Please contact George Batten, Maurya Batten, or Lara Upton to include your college student in this ministry.
