A Message from Pastor Alex |

|
It's the first day of Lent! With this season, we are taking the time to gather, worship and contemplate at CFUMC. Take note of the upcoming Lenten Lunches, Ash Wednesday Service and other Lenten Season events below. Additionally, our Instagram account is participating in Lent Photo A Day challenge. See more information below. Lastly, you will see that this Midweek Update is a tad shorter than normal. You will now find all announcement, news, small group information, and service opportunities on the website! |
|
|
We have an Instagram! And what better way to launch it than during the Lent Photo-a-Day Challenge. Be sure to follow our account here. Each day you will post a photo inspired by the word we post on our feed. The greater United Methodist Church is participating using the hashtag #LentPhotoADay. We are using the hashtag #CFUMC. We will share those that we see using the hashtag! |

Prayer as Living Actions
Throughout the church you will find glass receptacles with folded slips of paper that list a task for you to try during this Lenten Season. Take one (or two!) and try to achieve what is on the slip (or slips) and then when you are at church again, take a new one! |

VAUMC: Climate Summit
Saturday, March 8th from 8:30am- 3:30pm
The Board of Church and Society’s Creation Justice Team is holding the 1st VAUMC Climate Summit on Saturday, March 8, at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland.
YOU ARE INVITED!
We are gathering VAUMC leadership (stakeholders) at Conference, District and Church levels to rethink our understanding and action around Climate change/justice and its intersection with racial justice. We will gather to connect and learn why we are the key to VAUMC response to sustainability in climate change, and our response to the "Net Zero by 2050" resolution passed at the 2024 Annual Conference.
We are also asking our youth to come--there are special workshops for them and for youth leaders at a reduced price of $5. One of the workshops will feature
Charlottesville First’s solar panel project! Lunch at Randolph Macon’s cafeteria is included in the $25 registration fee.

We’ll have two more sessions on March 30th and April 13th. And you don’t have to commit to membership to join. It’s a great opportunity to
