DID YOU KNOW?

CFUMC has supported scouting troops meeting in our church since 1927 when Boy Scout Troop 2 began with 14 boys. In 1944 two troops merged into Boy Scout Troop 36 .    In 2025 troops  37 (boys 10-18) and 3711(girls 11-17), which previously met at Hinton Avenue United Methodist, began meeting at CFUMC. There are a total of 40 to 50 boys and girls in these troops and Boy Scouts of America has undergone a name change to Scouting America. Cub Scout pack 37 (boys and girls 5-10) also meet at CFUMC.     Girl Scout Troop 328 began meeting at the church with 12 middle school girls in 2016.  This troop continued through Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors until they aged out in 2021. Currently Girl Scout Troop 9620, a multilevel group of around 30 members meets at the church. This troop was formed in 2018 as a Daisy troop of kindergarten and first graders. They are presently 4th through 8th graders.

We’re excited to announce that we will be celebrating the 100 year birthday of Charlottesville UMC and our 2025 Consecration Sunday on the same day in early November!

We are collecting stories to share around these celebrations. Do you have a story to share? Contact Rex at rexhickman@comcast.net or Carolyn at carolynmcgee@cvillefirstumc.org. Thank you!!
