Midweek Update: September 17, 2025
Announcements
DID YOU KNOW?

Charlottesville First United Methodist Church has always been a church with a vision. In 2009, then minister Rev. Don Carlton wrote, “As we remember and celebrate our heritage, we will also vision and plan for ministry in a new millennium.  We will be discussing the many changes that have occurred during the last seventy-five years, and how our community of faith can continue to be faithful to Christ in an ever-changing world”.

We’re excited to announce that we will be celebrating the 100 year birthday of Charlottesville UMC and our 2025 Consecration Sunday on the same day in early November!

We are collecting stories to share around these celebrations. Do you have a story to share? Contact Rex at rexhickman@comcast.net or Carolyn at carolynmcgee@cvillefirstumc.org. Thank you!!

Traveling Tiny Jesus

Pick up a tiny Jesus or two today on your way out of worship and take Him with you as you travel through life! If you go on vacation, place Him in your photo! Let us see the places you visit! (Truthfully, don’t we always want to have Jesus by our side?)

Share your photos with Carolyn and we will share them here!

Wild Church

Are you seeking a welcoming community to connect with in nature?

Join us on the Sacred Way, where we come together to worship and celebrate the Divine amidst the beauty of the outdoors. We meet outside several times a month to hike together.

Each gathering begins with a brief reflection and prayer before we embark on our holy hikes. All ages are invited to participate.

Happy 80th Birthday Tom Ashley

The September One Thing Ministry will benefit many of our under-served neighbors as we gather and donate diapers and feminine hygiene products for Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry to distribute. Items can be left in the baskets in The Welcome Center or you can let us do the shopping for you by writing a check with "One Thing Ministry" in the memo line or donating on REALM. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity!

Wild Church
Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10am

Join us on Saturday, Sept 20th at 10 AM for a beautiful hike at Preddy Creek Park. We will all meet together in the parking lot and then have two options for hiking trails. It can be muddy if it rains, so hiking boots and poles can be helpful.

Option 1: Hike the 3.1-mile County Line Loop at a relaxed pace, crossing a scenic bridge, a creek beach, and following a well-marked trail. Led by Beth Reitz.

NEW* Option 2: Take on the 3.4-mile Preddy Creek Loop at a rigorous pace. If you like to move fast, this group is for you. Susan Barker will be leading the way.

This 571 acre park offers 16 miles of trails. So if you want to hike more, there are plenty of additional trails to hike!

There is a bathroom at the start of our hike and picnic tables if you want to bring a picnic to enjoy after our hike.
